  • The wooden shutters outside two of the windows on the second floor of our house had become home for several bats, resulting in unsightly bat guano (bat poop) on the shutters and front step of the house.  The bats were also living on the outside of the vents over the garage and attic.  We contacted Provider name locked. for an estimate on the removal of the bats.  Provider name locked. with Provider name locked. inspected the outside of the house as well as inside the attics, both over the garage and on the second story of the house, and determined that the bats had not yet penetrated inside the house.  He explained that we would have to replace the existing wooden shutters with vinyl shutters and that the new vinyl shutters would need to be backed by screening with caulk around the outside of the shutters to discourage return of any bats.  Since the house needed painting which would involve the removal of the old shutters on the second story anyway, we opted to put the new shutter installation on hold and get the house painted.   Provider name locked. initially left me a voice mail that they had sent an e-mail with their estimate attached, but I did not receive this at my e-mail address.  My husband then contacted Provider name locked. for the estimate which included the cost of the shutters along with labor and installation of the shutters and screening on the gable vents.  The estimate did not include any measurements for the shutters themselves or cost of individual shutters, and my husband asked Mr. Provider name locked. to order shutters that were closest in style to the shutters that were already on the house.  Mr. Provider name locked. stated that the new shutters might be slightly different in dimensions from the existing shutters, which my husband took to be a few inches either way.  The shutters and screening were installed today, October 26, 2015. The shutters on the windows of the front of the house proper look fine, but the shutters on the windows on the garage (fronting on the street)  are 15 inches longer than the windows themselves.  The shutters on either side of the front door--which Mr. Provider name locked. had stated that he would special order so that they would be the correct size--are at least ten inches too short.  To add insult to injury, Mr. Provider name locked. called my husband early this afternoon demanding our credit card number before we had a Provider name locked. to inspect the work.  When my husband called Mr. Provider name locked. to tell him that the results were unacceptable and would have to be fixed,  Mr. Provider name locked. immediately went on the offensive and insisted that we had refused to talk with him about the size of the shutters and that he  "would be happy to do that, BUT."   Mr. Provider name locked. then spoke with me and reiterated in some detail that we had refused to communicate with him about the size of the shutters--this is not true, but we were foolish enough to believe we were on the same wavelength as to size.  I asked Mr. Provider name locked. if he would install similar shutters of incorrect size on his house, and he did not respond. The lesson to be learned here, Provider name locked. reader, is to be sure that you have measurements from the contractor and that you double-check the measurements yourself.   After some heated conversation, Mr. Provider name locked. agreed to my request to remove the shutters from the windows on the garage and by the front door, and to adjust our bill accordingly.  (He grudgingly offered to look at different sizes and reorder shutters, but given his initial response and the request for immediate payment, I wanted no further involvement with the company.)   Provider name locked. , Mr. Provider name locked. 's spouse, who is in the office of Provider name locked. , called about an hour after we had talked with her husband. (I had called twice earlier in the afternoon.)  I explained our concerns and the result of my conversation with her husband.  Her response was to  tell me that it was my husband's fault as he had told Mr. Provider name locked. to order the shutters and that he (my husband) would "take the heat."  I reiterated the outcome of my conversation with her spouse, to which she responded that since we'd talked with him, there had been no reason for her to call.   (We called our credit card company immediately to cancel the payment  until we had come to a resolution with Provider name locked. .)  At no time did either Mr. or Mrs. Provider name locked. express any dismay or apology over our unhappiness with the work they completed.

  • Per our agreement I would remove some of the boards on the outside deck that covered the area where  the raccoons were entering the house to provide his workers with access to the area so they could install the Provider name locked. .  The workers were scheduled to come in a couple of days to dig down below grade next to the house and install a welded wire Provider name locked. to prevent access.  They would then backfill where the dirt was removed to finish the  installation.   Similar work had been done by them previously on an adjoining area but the Provider name locked. just found an untreated area that I had decided not to cover with a Provider name locked. at that time and gained access that way.
    Upon removal of the deck boards, however,  I discovered a very different environment under the deck than what we had expected and based our plans around.  Unlike the area just outside the deck, the area under the deck was anywhere from 1-2 feet below grade so there would be no digging required to get down and install the Provider name locked. , and dirt would need to be brought in to backfill up to grade after the wire Provider name locked. was installed.  Also, due to the extra clearance below the overhang area that was the problem,  I felt that I could create an effective Provider name locked. by another method by installing some solid wood over the opening under the area where the entrance was made.
     I called Provider name locked. with the news that the area under the deck was not what we expected and asked if I could renegotiate the contract to do the remaining work myself.  He was very agreeable to that, agreed that my approach would work,  and said any time someone could do the work themselves and save some money he was all for it.   His original willingness to let me take up the deck boards and repair the deck itself was an indication of his willingness to work with his customers, and his willingness to renegotiate our contract to cover just the call and consultation  at a very reasonable rate was further evidence of an outstanding attitude towards working with his customers.
    Based on two experiences with Provider name locked. and his company I highly recommend him and would definitely call him if I have any further problems with animals.  In my conversations with hiim it is very clear that he is very experienced and really knows his business.  He has also been very fair with me during our transactions and appears to want to develop a reputation that will generate repeat business.
