Structural Engineering reviews in Houston

  • We were having some issues with cracks and doors sticking in one location of the house, so I thought we might need foundation work. I contacted three different foundation companies that all had stellar reviews on Angie's List, and every company told me a different part of the house needed work. The bids were extremely different in price too, so at that point I decided to hire a structural engineer to tell me what the heck was going on.
Provider name locked. came out first and measured the house then Provider name locked. came. It was when we were having tons of rain in Houston, which was perfect. Provider name locked. inspected the house then talked with me about what was going on. He took me on a tour of our yard to point out areas where there were drainage issues and how they were impacting the foundation. He also noticed that the large crack we had in the garage and some gaping in crown molding wasn't caused by anything with the foundation, so he went up into the attic and inspected. He found that when the previous owner remodeled the house, they removed a load-bearing wall which was causing sagging in the ceiling (which we never noticed & wasn't evident until Provider name locked. pointed it out to me!).
His recommendations essentially were to deal with the drainage issue we have around the house, install a root Provider name locked. for our front yard oak tree and remove some trees on the side of the house, especially one that is causing the most damage, and to fix the support issue in the attic. He answered questions that I had about the report and was just so helpful.

  • We just bought a new condo inside the loop and after 4 months we noticed that one of the floors had excessive slope in a specific part of the home, so much that the doors wouldn't close. We had Mr. Provider name locked. come and do the inspection and was able to isolate the problem to a support beam that is starting to sag. We contacted the builder and are currently trying to have them fix the problem. Mr Provider name locked. was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, professional and even provided us with recommendations on how to deal with the builder even after he finished the job.

  • Provider name locked. measured and inspected the foundation of my house, which I suspected needed foundation repair.  He thoroughly explained what was affecting my foundation (trees) and how to fix it, and concluded that my
foundation did not need repairs. After his inspection and explanation I have a great deal of understanding of the current condition of my slab and how it will continue to be affected by several trees, as well as specific options to fix it.
