We were home visiting family on vacation when my Oliver got horribly sick and went downhill in just days. While home, he passed after nearly a week at the vets trying everything to get him well. When Ollie passed, I was numb...he was the “child” I could never have and had been my life for 10 years. The vet, whom we had used when we lived in Moody, she suggested Pets at Peace. I was so relieved, as I could not fathom having to bury my Ollie in Alabama while we live in Texas. Julie, the owner at Pets at Peace, was so very kind and caring. She picked my baby up and promised me she would give him the very best care and return his ashes to me. This happened 2 days before we had to leave to return back to Texas. It wasn’t until after she had my info that she realized she knew my sister through a mutual friend. Julie returned my Ollie and some beautiful keepsake items that I wasn’t even expecting. My mom had them in her care until I could get back to Alabama. The ornament with Ollie’s paw print and nose print in the middle of the paw may be my most prized possession. So many sweet things included and a beautiful lock of his hair...brought me to tears. It has been almost 3 years ago that we crossed paths, but I am so thankful the vet recommended Julie and Pets at Peace, as I can not fathom receiving better care or service in such a difficult time.

    Last Wishes
I went very well. We knew in December 2016 that our beloved 21 (almost) year old cat (Soleil), who found us in 2001 (Tropical Storm Allison), did not have much longer to live based on an assessment by our vet who gave her weeks (not months) to live. (She managed to live for 6 more months, so she hung in there.) We saw an ad for Last Wishes in one of the magazines at our vet (PetTalk, I think) and called them. We signed up for hospice care (around $250) to have weekly calls in which we can express any issues we were having and they could provide suggestions to make our cat's quality of life better. It was comforting to have a "hot line" if problems arose (ie. she was not drinking well, so they suggested putting a tablespoon of water in her (wet) food, as she was eating, so she would get water in this manner). The day we made the decision to have her euthanized (after we had been noting that her back legs had started to give way over several weeks), they came as quickly as they could on the day we called. They explained everything, and then when we were ready (giving us as much time as we wanted with our cat), we gave them the word. Having our cat put down in our home was exactly what we wanted (and we know it was what she wanted, too). It was so very hard to do this and then to let her go. Dr. Spade and Stacie were always thorough and compassionate. The only thing I would have done differently on my part is to make the decision on cremation vs. aquamation (we chose the latter), type of box or urn, etc. weeks in advance of the day of the euthanization so I could just have focused on the last hours with our precious cat and not have to "think". (The day of euthanization, aquamation, urn/box, etc. was $580). We also chose to get our cat's paw imprinted in clay. When we picked up her box of remains, they also gave, in a little bag, a nice tuft of her hair which we were not expecting, but were pleasantly surprised and pleased. They are a bit pricey, but it was expected, so it was not really a surprise. Still worth it. I don't think it would have been much less in an animal hospital, and Soleil got to pass peacefully in the home she lived in for the last 13 years of her life.

They took care of that very, very well. I walked out of there feeling as good as I could that she was in a better place. All in all, that worked out pretty good too. When we went in for the dog, they took us in immediately. They charged us $125 to put her down. The cremation service was kind of expensive, that was like $300, but we went ahead and had it done. She had been our cat for 22 years, so we wanted to have her ashes back. We took the ashes up to the river at my mom’s house and put them in the river.

    Last Wishes
Last Wishes is a wonderful alternative to taking your terminally ill pet to the vet's office for euthanasia.  They came to my home on time in a van with all the supplies they needed to give my pet  pain-free end of life care.  They were very kind to me and my family and everything they said and did made this day more tolerable.  I highly recommend Last Wishes.

Dr. Hou and her assistant Jennifer from Last Wishes were like two angels sent from heaven to me and my pet who was terribly ill with incurable cancer.  They were very experienced and knowledgeable, and with the utmost caring and gentleness, provided expert veterinarian services and advice.  My pet and I couldn't have been in better hands.  They turned a horribly painful time into an experience where I was able to provide a loving, gentle, kind death for my beloved pet.  The death he wanted, peacefully, at home, in my arms. I feel incredibly lucky that Last Wishes came into my life and can only hope that others can be as fortunate as I was to have their help and support.

It was pretty good and they were real nice people. They were real accommodating; it was over a weekend and they actually met with me on a Sunday so that I could drop off my dog and have it cremated. I picked his ashes up a few days later. They are very compassionate and understanding people.

My experience was fine. It was handled well. We had lots of options. We were able to choose the one for us. I would use them again.

I have used them before. They are fine. They put the animal in a very nice little container. Usually, their ashes come back pretty quickly in about a week to the vet and I pick up them from the vet.

It was very hard to put our dog to sleep but they treated him with kindness and dignity. We even got a sympathy card from the entire staff expressing their condolences and how they would miss Shadow. Overall, I would rate them an A+. The only minor point I would have is that there prices are not the cheapest, but for the care they gave, I think it was more than worth the cost.
