Hvac Repair reviews in Houston

  • Very well. I started by getting 3 quotes from respected names in the Houston market. Two quoted me $16,000 for replacement of a 4 ton unit, furnace, MERV filtration system and to remove the old ducting in attic and replace with new ducting. Air Express was my 3rd quote and they came in $4,300 less for a new American Standard 4 ton unit, furnace and replace ducting in attic. Jim Douglas handled my sale and installation and was also there after the sale. It has been 2 months and everything is just fine. Very pleased with the price, quality, product and installation.

  • Universal Home Experts was outstanding when I used them for the first time this past week. All the way from placing the call and the call center knowing and asking all the right questions, to scheduling the call and getting an update on the tech that was coming, to the tech Billiy coming out and fixing the problem within an hour. The price was reasonable but better yet the service was amazing, I will refer them to anyone I know. They are truly the best in town.

  • In a straight forward manner, Dan gave us pricing for the furnace replacement that included his specific itemization of about one dozen specific components related to the proposed installation. Other estimates we received simply stated the brand and model of the furnace and the price for replacement. Dan's proposal provided us with all new components, unlike the other estimates. With regard to duct-work, Dan explained that air-flow and air quality would be significantly improved with replacement, but existing duct-work was still functional. He left the decision up to us. Roy, assisted by Mike & Xris did an outstanding job of replacing both the furnace and duct-work. Roy is a seasoned professional whose thorough HVAC knowledge and experience was clearly evident. He was a pleasure to work with. Our new duct-work rated R-8 clearly has improved air flow throughout the house. The overall system is working great and work was accomplished with no hassle and much courtesy.

  • A+ did a great job installing my new unit. Price was competitive and the installation was very quick, fitting my schedule. Workers are all very profesional and clean. I have already recommended them to my friends and family.

  • I actually was referred to Master Mechanical A/C by a friend who found them on Angie's List. Started using them for our residential investment properties and then our business. Have been regularly doing so for the past seven years. Mario and his team are always the first guys I call when we have a HVAC issue. We have had them perform replacements for condensers, attic furnaces, evap coils, duct work, and other smaller A/C repairs. I trust them for their professionalism and directness. Their prices are always reasonable. I wish all contractors I deal with are as reliable as Master; it'll lessen a lot of stress when having to deal with emergencies. Only downside is availability during the busy summer months; they may have to schedule out a day or two in advance. But that's fairly normal for the sought-after HVAC contractors.

  • Serviceman was unaware capacitor was blown. Instead insisted that the unit needed to be replaced and insisted that a 9 year old unit was at end of life. Unfortunately for him, I know a bit about A/C units and knew he had to be incorrect. I had to hire another company to resolve the issues unknown capacitor issue. At the end of the day this standard service call yielded nothing useful.

  • I recommend you ask for your quote to be DETAILED, including full model number. I had a one-line quote which suggested a certain model, and though the quote was higher than others, I was willing to pay the extra for the better model that was quoted. However, a lesser model was installed. AirPro claimed their one-line-item quote was for this lesser model, however, a third party installer agreed with my assessment. Interestingly enough, the invoice provided after installation, was VERY descriptive and did not state the same thing as the single line item. I don't know if this was a case of bait-and-switch or just bad selling practices. The installers turned my vertical roof vent into a perpendicular-to-the-roof (angled) vent, which I had to get them to correct. Also, I assumed the follow up appointment would be to ensure I was using the unit properly and at top efficiency (making sure the thermostat was setup correctly for optimum use). No.... I had to ask those questions, and I'm still not convinced I'm getting the optimum use out of it. They quoted and performed the work very quickly, however. I chose AirPro because they were in west Houston's "Best Pick" reports, but I do not see why.

  • There was a leaking problem due to the clogged drain system in our AC. I found out Sun Air Conditioning and Heating on Angies' list because of their high reputation. I called the company on Monday morning. I told them it would be great if they could fix the problem as soon as possible. A lady quickly set up the appointment for us. The tech came to the house the same day. They not only fixed the problem, but also educated how to make the machine works more efficiently. They charge very reasonable fee comparing with another company on Angies' list. This is our first time using this company but I will definitely use them again. Honest, quick response, and nice customer service!

  • Excellent PLUS! The AC stopped working late Saturday afternoon around 3:30 pm after a power surge. I called Seasons and got a prompt call back from the owner, Jim. Jim notified Trace who was at my house within 20 minutes! Trace has been with Seasons for many years and is highly qualified and works with speed and efficiency. He fixed the AC and then checked my furnace per my request while they were there. Their quality and fast service was doubly important since I had eye surgery scheduled for Monday. Jim, the owner, didn't know that but sent Trace out that same afternoon just because they CARE! Excellent company. I really appreciated Trace's good work!!

  • somewhat confusing conversation. I called the number to talk to a representative. I have one old AC system and a newer (<4yr old) system. I wanted thoughts on both system. The other company sent someone who evaluated both systems and gave me recommendation on the newer system and discuss replacament options on the older system. This company wants me to pay to evaluate the new system and complementary visit to sell a new system? Also if your Comfort Adviser can't evaluate a system, how do they know if I need one??? Your rep wanted me to tell them if I need a new system. I am NOT an AC tech a and have NO idea how to tell if I need a new system

It goes without saying that Houston experiences hot summers and slightly chilly winters. To shield ourselves from the extreme climate conditions precipitated during the summer and to control those randomly cold nights during the winter, homeowners often install the very best heating and air conditioning systems.

The extent to which homeowners weatherproof their homes goes a long way in determining how much money they will save every month. Here are some strategies that homeowners can use to lower their HVAC bills.

Caulking around doorways and windows goes a long way in dramatically reducing heating and air conditioning bills. Nonetheless, homeowners ought to be beware of the fact that caulking may increase the levels of common household toxins such as carbon monoxide. Therefore, it should be undertaken by experts.

Temperature Regulation

During the sweltering summers that characterize Houston, it is advisable for homeowners to raise the household temperature especially when they are away from home. A misconception abounds, that cooling a home consumes an almost equal amount of energy to that would have been saved had the thermostat stayed constant. In the frigid winter days, homeowners should also lower their thermostats when not in the house.

Proper Maintenance of AC and HVAC Systems

According to the Energy Institute, the effectiveness of heating and cooling systems depends on how well they are maintained. Procedures that are often overlooked may end up affecting the effectiveness of these systems.

These procedures include the replacement of filters. Typically, filters are disposable, inexpensive and therefore, easy to replace. AC filters ought to be replaced every three months. This improves the flow of air into the heating and cooling appliances, thus enhancing the quality of air inside the houses.
