[Because of a poor quality dental insurance policy, issues arose regarding my coverage, but Dr. Provider name locked. very kindly worked with me regarding those issues. I cancelled that dental insurance after 1 year, obtaining one I'm very pleased with now.)

  • I went in for a physical this morning.  This was my first experience with this office.  It went TERRIBLE.  Here's what happened: 

    After arriving 5 minutes early for my 8am appointment, I was greeted by a receptionist behind a sliding glass window who was very impersonal.  There was no warmth or welcome in her voice and she was very mechanical.  She assigned me a number even though I was the only person in the waiting room -- #5 -- and when I asked why I was being assigned a number, she told me that that's how they do things in this office and that the other 4 patients were already back being seen.  The sliding glass window was shut in my face after her short explanation.

    Then, when I was called by another medical assistant (the nurse?), she opened the door and yelled out, "number 5".  I was sitting all alone in the patient waiting area, but she didn't use my name.  I looked around me, and then I remembered that my name is now "#5".  Talk about being TREATED LIKE A NUMBER.  Literally, they call you by a number, like you are at the DMV.  Really.

    When I was brought into the patient exam room, the nurse began to pepper me with questions, except she had her back turned to me the whole time while she typed onto a computer.  Again, it felt extremely impersonal.  It WAS EXTREMELY IMPERSONAL.  When I asked her to please turn around and address me with some eye contact because I was feeling like this was a bit impersonal, she asked me if I was having a bad day.  She continued to keep her back to me and continued her abrupt and impersonal line of questioning, again with zero warmth or friendliness and NO eye contact, and then she got up to put a thermometer in my mouth to take my temperature.  I was actually saying something and speaking and she shoved the thermometer into my mouth while I speaking mid-sentence.  Even the dentist doesn't do that!  I actually asked why she would do that when I was speaking and why she wouldn't wait until I finished my sentence, and she told me that she had a very busy day and lots of other patients to see.  Again, it was 8am.  

    I will say, I did not get a Provider name locked. to meet or speak with Dr. Provider name locked. .  But at this point, I was so taken aback by the unfriendly, impersonal and abrupt manner by his office staff, that I had no desire to continue with my physical or meet him.  Unfortunately, doctors don't understand that their office staff are as much a part of the patient experience as their bedside manner.  This doctor needs to review his process and his staff's interpersonal communications skills with patients.  I literally walked out of this appointment before meeting the doctor.  I could not continue and had no desire to become a patient with this kind of service.

's office is well managed and the staff is always pleasant, professional and helpful.  Dr Provider name locked. identified a problem and referred me to an endodontist for specialist work (great referral, good experience) and provided follow up care after that work.  She has been my dentist for just over a year (since I moved to Provider name locked. ) and I'm very happy.  Dr Provider name locked. explains things clearly and answers any questions I have.
