Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center
I do not recommend this hospital for any brain injury or stroke patient. I have been blatantly lied to by a nurse about an injury my husband sustained. This was supposed to be followed up by her administrator as a face-to-face visit, which never happened. Although, the apologetic phone calls and "plans" to meet were fast and furious. That was in May 2018. Even prior to this event, April 2018, my husband had a cerebral angiogram done one evening. The very next day, he was in a locked in state, drooling, in an adult diaper, couldn't speak only grunt. When I confronted his male nurse on duty that day, he shrugged it off as being tired. It was actually a major stroke inicident that no one bothered to look into. My husband has not been the same since that day. The lack of doctor communication is profound. I had to raise **** to get someone from his stroke team to speak with me about my husband's current status, prognosis and treatment plan. When a doctor finally came to meet me, I was not familiar with him but I wanted answers. I specifically asked WHY my husband's health has declined. His answer was "what do you mean?" Obviously, this poor guy didn't know my husband's history or his state upon arrival at the hospital. He was most likely sent to me as a "soother". Please note, I had no control of where my husband was being taken for emergent events, as he was in TIRR, just around the corner. Otherwise, I WOULD HAVE NOT taken him to this hospital. What is even more astonishing is that my husband's care team at TIRR stated to me that there is a trend of complaints by patients, and their families, about Memorial Hermann- TMC's treatment of their loved ones. So, I have fairly warned you to consider my experience. If you do chose to use MH-TMC, I wish you the best and hope that your experience will differ widely from ours.

    DR RICHARD LOURIE PHD LP
It is going very well. My son really likes Dr. Lourie and feels comfortable with him. He was not too excited about going, but he now looks forward to his appointments. I do believe Dr. Lourie is helping my son with his issues. It is a slow process, but I feel it is helping.

Brain Health Consultants and TMS Center
I can't say enough good things about my experience with Brain Health Consultants.   I had an episode of severe depression when I was younger and it nearly resulted in me taking my own life as it lasted for more than a year and my functionally was significantly compromised, which exacerbated the depressive cycle.    I had a relapse many years later and since I knew just how devastating the illness and its symptoms can be and how questionable the efficacy of typical antidepressant medication is, I became very interested in TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) therapy.    Of course, I knew I also likely needed pharamaceutical assistance and psychotherapy.    This was one of the few clinics I could find in Houston which offered all 3 services.

Dr. Rayan Al-Jurdi and his team are phenomenal.    Most importantly, they are very friendly and compassionate and make you feel comfortable.    The approach at Brain Health Consultants is to thoroughly diagnose ALL of the factors in your psychological challenges.    I felt very comfortable at the end of our first meeting that Dr. Al-Jurdi had a strong, clear sense of what was ailing me and I was very impressed at how well he understood the uniqueness of my personality and brain after just 2 visits.

Brain Health Consultants provided a customized and comprehensive treatment plan for me, which included TMS.    If you have suffered from Depression, I highly highly encourage you to explore and consider TMS.   Unlike antidepressants, it is an uninvasive therapy with the most innocuous side effect profile you will find out of any Depression treatment option.    TMS isn't cheap, but some insurance companies are starting to cover it and the value of restoring your psychological wellness far exceeds the costs of the therapy.

I believe one characteristic that makes Brain Health Consultants unique is that the team truly has its focus on your long term wellness and places a premium on the long term, not the short term.    This is very important in my opinion since far too often getting out of a Depressive episode is only half the battle as relapse is an ugly and distinct possibility.    Pills don't fully address the core drivers of Depression and Anxiety, but Brain Health Consultants will ensure that your treatment goes beyond a simple pill prescription.

I haven't fully recovered yet but I am doing significantly better and I was in a very, very dark place just a couple of months ago.  More importantly, I can rest assured that I am maximizing my chances for success because I know I am in very good hands with the team at Brain Health Consultants.

    Karen Hughes, DO
I told her what medicines I was taking. She said that she felt she could not prescribe the medicine I've been taking for 10 years because she thought I had high blood pressure. I never knew someone could tell your blood pressure without actually taking your blood pressure. I have a great cardiologist who has successfully treated me for hypertension and is aware of the medications I am on. I would not recommend using this psychiatrist because she seems to lack compassionate. She is young, quick to make critical decisions without fleshing out any pertinent background data, like finding out that I was put on that regime at the UCLA affective disorders clinic in Los Angeles, the world's leader in development and pioneering therapy in affective disorders. Because she works in a drug rehab hospital she views every patient from that perspective, particularly rose colored glasses. I picked up on this instantly and walked out before she could finish her sentence. Not only do I feel she is negligent, I think she is dangerous. I would caution anyone who considers using her as a mental health provider, to find a psychiatrist who views you as a person rather than just another trick. She obviously obtained an inferior education and it is evident to the most casual observer.

    Dr. Syed Sajjad Zaidi/Focus Psychiatry
I would rate him with no stars but it makes you rate him. Today is Friday, my appointment was on Monday. I couldn't get a hold of the doctor for him to tell me more about the medications he changed me on. Also my pharmacy tried calling him and couldn't get him on the phone until today also. So I would not recommend anyone to him. His receptionist never answers her phone and if you actually get a call back, which I still have NOT gotten yet, you are doing good. I did not see any reviews on him so I thought I should leave one so you know how one of his patients were treated.
Needed help and ended up losing more than I started with when I went in to see him? Terrible, terrible doctor. This is just a patient beware of this psychologist!!!!!!

Had to wait for about 40 min. Indicated the pat I had the basic tests already done the day before. Got the results faxed over but still went through all the tests including dial action again n. Very clear on the options available and dr Sun was very friendly and informative and no pressure to either decide or do any treatment immediately.

    Kingwood Psychiatry

Did not go well.  On multiple occasions we had to prove to them that we did not cancel an appointment and have them remove unjust charges. But it's really a lot more wrong than just that.  Very unorganized and unprofessional atmosphere. Seem to only be a prescription writing service.  They need some type of oversight.

This is the type of place where you go only if you have no other choice!

    Menninger Clinic
The experience was terrible and I would not go back there even if I was psychotic and didn't know my name.  They are there only for the money and are RUDE AND UNKIND to the patients. They do have a Patient Advocacy Department that really cares but their hands are basically tied by the administration. The nurses play favorites and love to gossip.  They create more drama than any of the patients could ever do on their worst of days.   DO NOT GO THERE FOR ANY REASON!!!  You would be better off getting the advice of your local hairdresser and save yourself a life savings.

Hard to get in - Waited several months - Pleased with their competence and hands-on treatment for glaucoma screen - Only negative was that it took almost a month for Dr Peter Chang's office to get a report to my doc at Kelsey-Seybold.

    Shana Clark MA LPC
Shana is a very caring and compassionate therapist. She listens intently, provides sound advice, and is easy to talk with. Meeting with her is more like meeting with a friend than meeting with a therapist. I have found her methods incredibly helpful and am so grateful to have found her. I would recommend her to any friend or family member.
