Houston General Contractors Reviews

"After 18 months of looking for a contractor we finally went with
Houston General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. Reason being, we were literally able to "put" our hands on some of his previous work. Instead of just giving recommendations, he provided places to go! His prices were competitive, not to low, not to high. His contract was an easy read, protecting both parties. His payment terms were more than acceptable, wanting 50% / 25% / 25%, with the last 25% help until AFTER the punch list was finished. Did I mention he accepts credit cards as well? On starting the project his guys put protective paper on my living room wood floors, plastic over the bedroom carpets and plastic drapes over the doors, all to help protect from the demo. When doing the demo, they took very special care of the other flooring and did not run wheel

through the house, potentially hitting furniture and door jambs. We were so pleased with the bathroom that while here we had him do the woodwork and built ins in the master closet. I would recommend him!
"We hired
Houston General Contractors Provider Name Locked
to paint the interior of our home right after we closed. We had to start on a certain date and so we booked them a month in advance. Sure enough,
Houston General Contractors Provider Name Locked
called the night before to reconfirm the start and they showed up on time the next morning. I explained to
Houston General Contractors Provider Name Locked
that we really had to be done by the weekend and he said it wouldn't be a problem. His crew worked until at least 7pm each night to make sure the painting was done so we could move in on time. As they were wrapping up the interior, I started to notice a lot of rotten wood on the exterior of the house. I really wanted to wait on painting the exterior, but it was apparent that we had a serious issue. I showed
Houston General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and he said they could start on the exterior right away. I was concerned about the cost because we had just spent a lot on the house, painting, moving, etc.. but I gave
Houston General Contractors Provider Name Locked
a budget and he stuck to it. He even gave me a 10% discount for being a return customer. They ended up replacing a lot of the siding and priming and painting the entire house with 2 coats of paint like I asked. He was very attentive and stayed in touch with me during the entire process. I even signed off on all the prep work before they started the painting. I like that!! This was one of the best experiences with a contractor I've had.
"I hired
Houston General Contractors Provider Name Locked
to paint my entire interior a few weeks ago. I had a tight budget and got a few estimates and they had the best price for the amount of work I wanted done. They started when they said they would and had a great 3 man crew that worked fast and clean!! I had lots of holes in my walls and they fixed them so good that you cant even tell where they were! They finished in the amount of time they estimated and never changed the price on me. I got constant calls letting me know what was going on with the job and what would happen in the future. I liked all the communication from the crew leader as well.
Houston General Contractors Provider Name Locked
delivered on every promise per the agreement. The crew showed up on time each day and cleaned up each night. The crew chief explained everything to me each day and was available to answer all my questions. The house looks better than ever and we already rented out the space for more than our previous years numbers. The bid never changed and the work was completed in a timely manner. We will use them on all of our personal homes and any other future projects.
"I had two appointments where the dates and times were set. The contractor did not show up. nor did they call. I had taken off work, but no response. When I called to re-schedule they did, but also did not show up. nor call. They still haven't called to re-scedule.

was prompt and responsive originally to the contract. There were several inadequately finished sections of the contract, particularly the tile work. Some of the painting was not smooth, it obviously had dirt in the paint and Mr.
Houston General Contractors Provider Name Locked
acknowledged that. I did not ask for it to be redone because it would be a nightmare to redo. The tile work was supposed to be in the master shower. However, he on his own decided to do something in the other bathroom shower, which I had not asked for. He came back to do the redo on the tiles, and he is not a tile person. Neither was the person that originally did it, in my opinion. He messed up the floor of the shower so bad that I spent two days scraping it and then redoing it myself. The wrong color grout was used and then when he came back to fix it he used a caulk that is now pealing away. The caulk he used was inappropriate, he should have used grout. This also occurred in the second bathroom that I did not even want him to touch. It was fine and now it is all messed up. A lot of the other things on the job were good. The bathroom situation was just very frustrating. I still do not have the situation resolved but I do not feel comfortable using him to fix it because I do not think he can."
"Initial meeting with contractor went well. He was punctual and professional. He explained the materials I needed to obtain to get the job done. The two handymen that showed up to do the job were also very professional and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, they were some things that we missed or mis-calculated so I had to make additional trips to the hardware store to get the right items. The job went smooth. I was pleased with their work.
"it went well. the workers were diligent and careful. they prepared the room before working and clean up after the working was completed.
have received numerous compliments about the new and elegant look.

"Our backyard is an outdoor Oasis! We live in a 3 story townhouse that has a small backyard and

helped us work through the best design for our needs. It was great working with

on the design.

and his crew did an awesome job. The not so pretty side of the fence that has the frame boards was going to be behind the cold counter that would make it possible for things to fall behind the counter;
Houston General Contractors Provider Name Locked
had the great idea of putting up fence pickets oh that part of the fence so the fence was solid behind the counter and nothing could fall behind it. The work was done on schedule and the crew was great about cleaning up at the end of each day.

went above and beyond; he and his son worked into the night to get our Oasis completed so that we could enjoy it on the 4th of

"The provider had completed some framing work for us outside of this contract and was eager, if not pushy, to get the ball rolling on our major renovation project, for which we had taken out a home equity loan, urging us that they had the crews and knowledge to knock out this job in no time. Against better judgement, we hired them and paid them one third of the $48,000.00 total for the job. They moved all of our belongings except our master bed into our garage including all the toys of our five year old daughter who would be living with us through the renovation. Given their short time frame for work we thought this would be fine.

While the framing went quickly, they soon pulled all but one guys off of the job for the tile work. The worker didn't know what he was doing and was poorly supervised. It took weeks to level the floor (using the cheapest most labor intensive method) and

the tile. Per our contract, the next third of our payment was due totaling $32k. Assured this was a small hick-up well on its way to being resolved, and being pushed to do so, we cut the check.

When the tile work was done, we had to point out the fact that the majority of the tiles were hollow to the contractors who never would have noticed. Our entire downstairs was a disaster for two months as they paid someone to learn how to

our tile properly. This job would have taken a professional one week

. They also worked on electrical and plumbing work, using unlicensed individuals to do so. We had to correct their work several times as the contractors were rarely there and even when they were didn't seem to notice issues and flaws. When asked why we weren't getting licensed individuals they said they always used these unlicensed people. We felt like second-rate clients to them who didn't deserve licensed professionals for $48k!

The contractors left piles of construction debris in our house and yard during this period and all of our belongings were covered in dust, even upstairs, because they failed to properly tape off work areas. My husband had to finally explain to them how to do the tile and plumbing work properly. We were on summer vacation towards the end of the tile job (all flooring was supposed to be well past completion at this point) and returned home to find tile baseboards throughout the house. This was something we had verbally communicated to the contractors we did not want and had sent an email requesting be changed well in advance of installation.

Upon our return progress pretty much halted. Nobody was working and the contractors wouldn't return our calls. Upon mention of a legal action they finally responded and explained they had "messed up", They assured us it wouldn't happen again and PROMISED us they would be able to complete the project in a timely and professional manner with licensed people for plumbing and electrical and a sheet rock crew for our walls.

After another month of playing around with our drywall we again only had one person working, had terrible workmanship, and were left without communication. This is FOUR months into the contract and all we have is some framing (which we had paid out of pocket for on a separate contract not included in this total), unlicensed electrical and plumbing work and partial flooring and dry wall work complete....if anything we were only about 1/10th of the way into the job and needed to fix still hollow tiles and re-do the drywall. Knowing any further work would be sub-par, unlicensed and slow, we asked the contractors to refund us $20k of the $32k previously paid. This would allow them to be credited for the sub par flooring, electrical, plumbing and dry wall work- a generous offer since we would likely have to re-do much of this work and we did not take into account the pain and suffering we endured living through the mess they created with our daughter and us only having one bedroom and bathroom downstairs, no kitchen or living/dining room or furniture besides a bed.

The contractors did not take us up on the offer. Instead, they visited us to inform us they ran out of our money- $32,000.00. They said they had spent this money on OUR home, which only had tile work, some unlicensed plumbing and electrical and some unfinished drywall work done. We still can not imagine how anyone could have spent a fraction of that amount on our house, especially with the knowledge that they had the majority of the job left to do with the $32,000 we paid them up front. They informed us since they were out of money, they would be leaving our home, which is a full blown construction zone with no kitchen, proper lighting, properly painted or textured drywall, and exposed concrete and wiring in many areas, just as it is with no further work and no reimbursement of funds. A sheet rock crew came out after the fact and informed us they would have to re-do most of the floating and texture throughout our whole downstairs to correct the poor workmanship they had left. We still have to meet with a tile person, plumber and electrician to find out the costs of fixing other work they did. We have approximately $36k to $40k left to do of work from our contract and repair work from the work they did, and are only left with our final payment of $12k to try to bring our home back to some sort of liveable standard for our little girl who has been such a trooper and has endured so much over the past four months of construction.

These people looked us in the eyes and promised us multiple times they would complete this process and knew what they were doing. They saw the misery we were living in week in and week out, our belongings covered in dust or stuck in a humid garage piled upon each other. They saw our daughter begging to have somewhere to play, having to stay away from exposed wires and dry wall dust which littered our food. Instead they have run off with out last penny and aren't even looking back. This is by far the worst experience I have had with any human being, let alone contractor, period. I just pray nobody else has been taken for their last cent by these people the way we have.
