  • On February 20, 2018, All American Concrete was employed to come in and take over the installment of our project to install a basketball court for our son for his birthday on a very short notice. We thought it was going to be impossible to complete it before his birthday but thankfully, All American Concrete was able to prove us wrong!   • Brought Sammy in to provide a quote on a fairly extensive update to home. As others mentioned, there is a small fee associated with having him come out during the first visit. However, keep in mind Sammy does more than spend 30 minutes meeting with you. We spent several hours with Sammy walking through our home and discussing needs and wish list items. In return, we received a fairly detailed quote that included all items we discussed. After deciding to move forward, we were provided a start date and estimated time to complete the project. With this being our first major contracting experience, we weren't sure what to expect, but here is a general overview of our experience: 1. Day 1 - Sammy arrives at 7:30 and introduces us to Nelson, who will serve as the foreman for the project. Nelson was super responsive during the entire project. He answered any and all questions that I had and worked side by side with his crew throughout the process. He also provided quick solutions to problems encountered and would make suggestions on small details that ultimately improved the look and feel of the home. 2. Day 1 - Crew arrives at 7:30 AM, pulls the dumpster up the driveway, receives instruction from Sammy and Nelson and gets right to work. 3. For the next 12 weeks, the crew worked diligently on the project. There was always someone working at our house, Monday through Saturday (yes, they worked Saturday as well) from 7:30 am to beyond 5 pm. 4. The entire crew was extremely hard working, easy to interact with, and helpful. Even more important, it was the same group of guys during the entire project because Sammy has his own team. 5. The project was completed within the scheduled 16 week period. Overall, we are extremely happy with the results. With any project, there will be challenges and issues that are encountered. Sammy and Nelson were always up front with issues and provided recommendations and solutions. As with any project, you should always allocate additional funds for unforeseen issues that arise. We did have a couple of those items, but they were fairly minor in respect to the project as a whole and were not issues that could have been determined prior to the project. From a price perspective, the company was probably in the top 25% of quotes that I received. However, this is truly a 'you get what you pay for' situation. Being consistently on site six days a week, providing quality work, delivering the project on time, and providing exceptional customer service is well worth it.

  • Poor quality work and they simply refuse to correct obvious defects. I used them to replace a concrete driveway. One panel cracked within several weeks, the brick and mortar trim fell apart in several months. After contacting the Brazos Concrete and providing photos of the poor workmanship Brazos Concrete simply would not provide a solution or even stop by and look at the poor workmanship. I even offered to pay for the repair. It seems clear that Brazos Concrete could care less about the customer and believes there is sufficient business in the greater Houston area that repeat business or a reputation does not matter.

  • We met and discussed our needs after a major flood to our home. We also discussed options for what type of improvements were possible and how much it would cost. Eric’s team started within in just a few days of our acceptance of his initial proposal. We knew we would be adding items but wanted get begun as soon as possible! Eric was onsite supervising each activity by his team. He was always available by text or phone if something came up. Plus he was on the job site almost every day for months. Eric also did construction work himself as needed, and took the time to explain options when they found issues in our walls, floors, plumbing, etc. We collaborated on several design options to improve our kitchen, stairway, laundry, cabinetry and trim/molding. I really enjoyed our collaboration to make the outcome as best as possible while still being cognizant if prices. His cabinet guy was amazing. He knew his sizing and proportions. He was able to adapt to my requests, answer my questions and worked hard and skillfully each day. His painters and tile folks are so nice and easy to work with. The work they do is beautiful. Very good people. Our project was very large and stressful for us — since we had flooded about five feet of water. Yet, we also had the opportunity to improve areas of our home. Eric helped me through many of the enormous amount of decisions. I would recommend Distinguished Designs for a home remodel or construction project of any size. I have already recommended his company to several neighbors and friends. One special note: When we were interviewing builder’s/construction companies, Distinguished Designs was the only one of several that had a good solution for overhauling the look of our 80’s style open staircase into a beautiful new wood design that we had always wanted without breaking our budget. Thank you for this! We also purchased many of the materials ourselves (like the wood flooring) yet his team handled all the installs. They adapted to our needs yet kept the project safe and with permits.

  • I have to say there were a couple of issues. First, the cost for the driveway had to be increased because of an increase in the price of rebar. Second, I was disappointed on the finish of one section of the driveway due to a delay in the delivery of cement. Third, the chosen and recommended paver colors clashed terribly with the brick on the house and the walkway and porch had to be completely re-done.

  • I had moisture/water issue in two of my rooms that was causing wood floor to buckle. Mr. Jess Monroe from Titan Structural Solutions did show up and evaluate the situation. and we both agree that there are two causes 1) sewer pipe connection right outside house is damaged by tree roots 2) and foundation issue in two of my rooms. We both agreed that he is going to fix both of issues and he is going to get all the required permits from city to do the job. He wrote a contract and we both agreed with it. 1st) His crew came one week late with no city permit, he had to delay the job again and wait few more days until he got the permit. 2nd) his crew only finished the foundation part of job and didn't even dig or touch any of the sewer pipe part of our agreement, they came up with many different excuses and lies to not do the plumbing parts, Meanwhile he updated and email me a new contract that pumping part was removed from it. Since I was not going to pay them for half a job, he called me himself and promised me if I pay for the job they did so far, his crew will show up in next working day and finish the plumbing part. I make mistake and believe him and paid them. 3rd) The next working day, nobody showed up , he promised to show up few more day after that, no show either, then excuses after excuses, after two weeks of none sense ,he finally told me that he is not planning to do the pluming part because bunch of lame excuses and bunch of lies about my sewer piping system that he know himself is not true. 4th) He also promised me to give me engineering completion job certificate (required by city) in few days, and I haven't received it yet even more a month passed. To summarize: people in this company have no integrity and lie to you to get the job. Don't make my mistake and trust this people, and never pay them for half job. Because as soon as you do, they will disappear and your job won't be completed.

  • We hired Rick O's in 2015 to remodel our two bathrooms. Both bathrooms were taken down to the studs and completely redone. We were so pleased that this time we didn't get bids from anybody else. Rick and Beau came to our house in May 2017 and we discussed what we wanted to do. We had a galley kitchen and we wanted an open concept between the dining room, living room, and kitchen. The house had a raised concrete entrance about 3 inches above the floor of the rest of the house, so we felt to enlarge the kitchen and open it up, the concrete had to be removed. We discussed making an L shaped kitchen with an island. This would involve removing a load bearing wall and replacing it with a post and beam. Beau made a sketch of what he recommended and I made a drawing with dimensions from his template. We signed a contract on Nov. 27, 2017 and since Rick always has a lot of work pending we knew it would be quite a while until the renovation would start. Work commenced on March 6, 2018. Demolition of everything except the concrete proceeded rapidly. The concrete was evidently much more dense than a usual residential foundation and it took a week to remove. A post and support beams were installed and work proceeded rapidly for a while, but we were still in the post-Harvey crunch and some of his subcontractors were behind schedule. That slowed things up, but we still finished June 5, 2018. The remodel included cabinets with soft close drawers and doors and undercounted lighting. During the remodel the scope of the work was enlarged to include the hallway and the utility room ceilings and floors and trim. A new front door, back door and office door were included. And some additional can lighting was included. It is beautiful job and the workers all took pride in their work like it was their own home. We will probably remodel our bedrooms in a year or two and will ask Rick O's to be our contractor again.
