  • Professional, timely estimate, fair price, punctual, responsive communicator, accurate time of start and completion, excellent craftsman and quality, tidy, friendly, understanding, willing to accommodate requests for changes to original plan. Was a small job, and unlike many of the “basement system companies” was willing to accommodate our specific needs and budget, without trying to upsale us on things that we neither wanted or needed (permitting us to do some of the work ourselves-trim, painting, flooring). Couldn’t be more happy w/the end product. Would definitely hire again for big or small jobs. I certainly recommend to anyone else without any reservations.

  • Charles performed the job right on time for a great price. The work was extremely professional as was Charles himself. He quoted me a very reasonable price, better than I could have gotten from competitors. Upon starting the work the job became more extensive than originally thought requiring additional supplies and labor. Charles did the additional work for no additional charge which was very impressive. I highly recommend him for any basement water proofing but he also is an accomplished mason so I would use him masonry work, chimney repairs and he like.

  • i'll be honest, my experience was just terrible. Dave quoted 900 for the job which he said would take a couple of days. after a couple of hours, with a large hole outside my house, he said he was going away for a long weekend with buddies. this type of stuff went on for weeks--Dave couldn't come because of his birthday, golf or day or weekend out with his friends, then another siding job came up for Dave, and then Dave's wife got ill, and at some point I stopped trying to figure out what's made up and what's real. During this lingering period, Dave increased the amount to 1350 (that's 50%), which he said was a break. I didn't ask for any extra work, and the original arrangement was not "subject to" any conditions, so there is no legal basis for this change in price. frankly, I felt I had no choice so I agreed to this arm twisting tactic knowing I was gifting Dave with 50% more than we agreed upon--a strong-armed bonus. Dave asked for the full check before completion, I told Dave I'd give him 2/3 of the money and give him the rest when he completed. Dave took the 1000 (that's 100 more than we agreed upon at the outset for the whole job), said he'd be back in a couple of days, and he disappeared, never to return, leaving junk in my house. When I found someone else to finish the work, they showed me how completely skewed the work was, where you could see light entering through the corners of the door. Dave installed foam spacers that came with the door in such a way that they were being sheared apart by the friction of the misaligned door rubbing against the door jam. (I have pictures of all this but I'll keep them on the cloud for now). and to top it off, I found most of my communications with dave were frankly a bit unpleasant. like I was intruding on his life by calling to see when things were going to get done. when he was there, the attitude was as though I was forcing him to do something he had no interest in doing. the two day job that went on and on and on. it wasn't right.

  • I called on a weekend for a quote and Bill, the owner, met with me Monday morning. Although I did not end up needing his services at this time, I felt compelled to write this review based on how honest, friendly, and professional Bill was. I would definitely feel comfortable doing business with this company and would call them again in the future with any issues.

  • Very Well. Punctual. Communicative. Diligent. Worked for two and a half long days with few breaks. Excellent results. Got three quotes and they were the least expensive. Rich gave the estimate and his foreman, Mike, followed through with great onsite supervision and direction to the crew. Both were quick to return calls and answer questions. The crew was neat and polite.

  • They responded to my call extremely quickly, offered a precise written estimate on the strength of the photographs I emailed them, and came out to do the work that same week. They sealed the full length of the crack from floor to ceiling from the inside with epoxy, covered the inside surface with a rubber layer and the outside with plaster. They back up their work with a lifetime guarantee. Winter/early spring will be the best test of the seal, but I feel good knowing that I can call them back if there are problems. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Hoping I won't need their services again, but I would 100% recommend.

  • Shady! Worst experience ever. To start they took over 1 year to finish the project. Also when the closing in the house was done, they didn't even touch the house for 2 months! Which I had to pay mortgage for and unable to live in. Horrible at answering the phone or they answer and say "let me call you right back!" And never call ! The employees they hire are unprofessional and you have to monitor them so they job is done barely right. Bad paintors too! In the bathroom the left a 5'' gap from the rear part of the toilet tank to the wall. Angel Otero told me that it was normal and that the previous toilet was like that. What a lie! The toilet wasn't and I have pictures to prove it. Also they changed small details about the design and construction without notifying me. Another example: our hardwood floors were sanded and coated. Angel Otero promised me two coats of clear the satin. I was there when the subcontractors were coating the floor and asked them personally how many coats they were going to do. They said that Angel Otero told them to do one coat only!! I asked Angel and he said that two coats were applied. LIAR! Horrible experience. And Carlos Torres and Angel Otero are both super shady trying to screw the system and do work half way. All these claims are real and I have pictures and documents to prove it. Email me atkupa18@hotmail.com if you want the pictures. Now you might think that you can make them finish the work right or don't pay them! So I thought ! I tried to make them finish the job by holding the money but, Carlos Torres immediately threatened me with filing a mechanics lean on my house if I didn't pay!! Forcing me to sign the check over. To top it off. I Recently went to the city where my house was worked on. And guess what!??! They permits they took to do the work are still open and unfinished. And now after I paid them I can't get a hold of them. They don't answer the phone! I tried to close the permits myself however the inspector said that there is still work left to be completed !! The worst part is that they both presented themselves as current police officers. Which made trust them. God I was wrong. Please save yourself a huge headache and hire someone else.

  • Gove Restoration is one of the best decisions we have ever made, especially for such a big and important job—that you have to live with, day in and day out! If you are looking to have something done, big or small, Gove Restoration probably did it for us—because we had them do everything. We recommend Gove Restoration 1000%. They earned the highest possible rating from us! We acquired a solid but run-down mid-1960’s split-level in Wethersfield. Other than essential maintenance, the house was not touched in 50 years. It was hard to imagine anything good coming out of that dingy house. Matt Gove and his brother Adam of Gove Restoration, with help from Dave Gove and their father, completely transformed that split-level, inside and out, into a spacious, modern, bright and airy, high-quality, insulated, comfortable, far from ordinary home, with state-of-the-art wiring and technology! The house feels good. Everything is rock-solid, built to last!!! Seven key factors that clearly distinguish Matt and Adam Gove, Gove Restoration from the rest: 1. Matt Gove’s honesty speaks for itself in his extensively detailed proposals. Every aspect of the job was discussed and broken down in detail and cost—even before we signed up. We discussed a budget, and we knew exactly what we would be getting, the exact material that would be used, and how much it would cost. We could have chosen any material, roofing, siding, windows, etc. that we wished. We preferred to rely on Matt for recommendations. Based on his tried and true experience, Matt provided us with many alternatives/options/at various price points. He also provided manufacturers websites for reference. Sometimes opportunities present themselves during a renovation and changes are advantageous. Matt always provides detailed change orders with alternatives. When Gove Restoration starts your job, they work on it exclusively until it is done. We never had to worry that we overlooked something. Matt thinks of everything! He made everything easy and worry-free. Another thing to keep in mind is that Gove Restoration truly specializes in restoration as well. We discussed every element in the house and decided whether to restore or replace. 2. We met several top-rated contractors about our renovation project, and truly studied their work to the smallest detail. We were completely impressed with Matt Gove, the quality and aesthetic of their work, his many solid ideas to improve look and functionality, the detailed proposal and fair price. His ideas were not just talk. He had already done everything he described, and we could see his work. 3. Impeccable craftsmanship in every little “up-close” detail is just as important as the big picture; if you have one without the other, you have nothing. Gove Restoration far exceeded our very high expectations and was everything we could ever want, or dream of, for this or any future renovation project. Matt and Adam Gove and their father are master carpenters. The craftsmanship is perfection. Matt Gove worked on the networking system with his brother Dave, who is an IT specialist and acted as a consultant for the job. They designed a unified, clean, wiring system for state-of-the-art technology throughout the house. Without exaggeration, they thought of everything! Everything is done right! Everything is solid. Everything is perfect! Really. 4. Design: Without Matt Gove’s expertise and design talent, the house would just be the same 60’s house with cosmetic fixes. With just a few very carefully thought-out tweaks to the design of the 60’s split-level, Gove Restoration converted the exterior to a clean modern craftsman look. Although it fits nicely in the neighborhood, it stands out as the nicest looking home in the area. They did the same with the interior—it no longer feels like a 60’s split-level! We wanted a front door area with no windows for complete privacy. To add light and a modern element, Matt put in the most perfect small windows up near the roof line above the door area. This little change created a very comfortable feel inside and a modern look outside. With minimal alteration, they made excellent use of wasted space, enlarged closet space, added precious space to the master bath, and made other rooms seem brighter and larger. They converted a summer sunroom into a heated/air-conditioned extension of the house, with a nice-looking secure storage area below. The exterior stairs leading to the sunroom were replaced, and we were amazed to see that Matt created a very attractive hidden space under the stairs to store those big plastic garbage bins! The interior and exterior elements and all the little details work together. The interior is fresh, bright, and modern. Matt Gove, his father and brothers put a lot of thought into this house and worked on it as if it was their own. 5. Because we lived out of state during this process, it was important to hire someone we could trust to do the job without daily supervision, and someone with excellent design talent. Matt Gove guided us through every decision throughout the entire project (and kept us informed every step of the way.) I would like to say again--Without his expertise and design talent, the house would just be the same 60’s house with cosmetic fixes. Due to unforeseen circumstances, our focus was diverted away from the project. With complete peace-of-mind, we could rely on Gove Restoration for all the finishing details, including all paint colors, window treatments, picking out the dining room light fixture, working with Cox, the alarm company, etc. He was happy to help in any way possible. He took care of everything! (Because of his interior decorating skills, and because we value his opinion, and we like him, we plan on taking Matt furniture shopping with us.) What he accomplished with that house is beyond anything we, or anyone else, could have imagined. Gove Restoration transformed that house into a fabulous, WOW home! 6. The Gove family are truly the finest people one could ever meet and work with. This was a huge project! But they made it so easy, and stress-free! We communicated easily and freely by txt msg, emails, phone calls, numerous txt pictures, and exciting visits! Through this project, we and our families have gotten to know the Gove family, who we now consider to be a part of our family! 7. When Matt needed to use a specialty sub-contractor (electrical, plumbing, furnace installation, generator, roofer, etc.), he knows, and used only the best people in the business. Even though he uses the best people, he still supervises every aspect very closely. He doesn’t take anything for granted. If it is not exactly right, it is re-done! Matt graciously agreed to pick out and order all of the window blinds for the entire house. When the window blinds came in, they were all cut just a little too short width wise. Any other contractor would not have noticed or taken the easy way out. Matt Gove made them replace all of the blinds! This is what makes Matt Gove, Matt Gove! This is what makes a job perfect! Other examples: After the Living Room Ceiling was finished/painted, the sun decided to shine a certain way. Matt did not like what he saw, so they re-sanded, etc. and repainted the sprawling ceiling. We asked Matt to select paint colors for us. He didn’t think the colors in some of the rooms that he painted were exactly right, so he made subtle color changes and re-painted rooms until they were perfect—who else would do that? The paver sidewalks weren’t lining up exactly as planned. He had them realign the sidewalks until they were right—same thing with the patio. The thought of renovating that split-level was overwhelming. Gove Restoration made it all easy and very enjoyable. Thanks to Gove Restoration our old house is better than new! We know exactly what went into the renovation of our home and that our money was well spent. We know that we have solid quality. We know that we can call Gove Restoration anytime!

  • The short story: Rocco missed an 830 appointment, rescheduled it to 11, and then stood me up again. Unprofessional and inconsiderate. The longer story: I made an appointment with Rocco for 830 am on a Saturday. At 850, I called to determine where he was. He was apologetic about having forgotten about the appointment and we rescheduled it for 11am later that morning. At 1120, when he still had not arrived, I called again and was told that he was just getting into his car. Needless to say, I cancelled the appointment. He could be excused for missing one appointment, but missing the rescheduled appointment for the same morning displays a gross lack of professionalism.

  • The company was very prompt in responding to our initial outreach and setting up a visitation. Other than the sales guy being 20 minutes late, he was a pleasure to work with. Had a story or an anecdote for every town and everyone he's ever worked with. He made a very big deal to emphasize how they go through the extra effort to have a quality product. It took nearly two hours of story telling and sales positioning to finally get to the measurements and initial estimate. The number that they came back with was well over double our budget. We were direct and upfront about this and had to spend an additional 40 minutes of trying to adjust the design, the materials, and find incentives to bring the price down. He still could not get it close to a number that we were comfortable with. He insisted multiple times that we "just finance it" which we did not want to do or "find some extra money around" to do it. They would not let us sit on a proposal over the weekend. We opted not to go with them and did not appreciate the high pressure sales tactic. We met with another contractor shortly after and despite a longer work schedule, have a proposal which is much closer to our budget and will offer something much closer to what we want in a space.
