    Randy Inch Masonry
Chris Inch and his co-worker, I think his name is Alex did an excellent job in repointing chimney, making masonry repairs on side of my duplex in city that required stucco repairs, caulking, repaired front porch steps. They just went the extra mile - rehung my exterior shutter and found a piece so that it could be rehung. Friendly yet very professional. They know what they are doing. I would not hesitate to hire them again. All A's except one B and that was because I got a quote back in November, and I responded with more questions but then I never heard back. Out of the blue, I get a call in January and they are ready to do my work. Very responsive once on the scene. But again, excellent job. I also think the price was very reasonable.

I had gotten a previous estimate that started out at $3500 and that only covered two sides of the house and no cement work. This person also told me I needed to have 50-60 bricks replaced, plus, they would need to erect scaffolding. When I bulked at the price, he then said he could probably get away with 10 to 20 bricks and reduced the price to $3100. I still was not happy, so he asked me if I was a senior, which I was, and he wanted to know if I had any one in the military. I told him my son was a full-bird colonel so he reduced the price to around $2800 but told me if I signed that day, he would do it for $2500. I ended up signing. This was on a Friday afternoon, but it definitely bothered me very much that I didn't get another estimate, so at 9 o'clock on Monday morning I exercise my right to rescind the sale within three business days. That is when I saw Randy's name and his reviews on Angie's list and decided to call him. He came out two days later and gave me an estimate. I did not mention how much the other company had told me it would cost, but I did tell him that they said I needed bricks replaced and scaffolding. Randy looked over the entire house including the back of the house which the first guy didn't do. He said I had quite a few places with missing mortar on the back and showed me where they were. I then asked him if he would be able to repair the broken cement on the steps. He told he could do that. The front steps were particularly bad. He also said he did not see anywhere where bricks needed to be replaced and no need for scaffolding. The highest spot was about five and half feet off the ground. Imagine my surprise when his quote was $1400 for everything. I could not believe it. After I got that estimate, it rained for two weeks straight. The first day there was no rain, Randy and his helper, James, were on the job. I think they did a tremendous job! The cement repairs look absolutely great and the mortar matches up so well that you can not tell where the repairs are, unless you look very closely. But it doesn't stand out at all. As far Randy's character, I found him to be a deeply religious man, who I don't think would cheat anybody out of a dime. I am so glad that I got another estimate and that I called Randy Inch.

I could not recommend this company more highly. Jocco, their mason and the father of the two young men who run this company, is truly an olde world artist in masonry. He has expertise that is hard to find in today's construction environment.

    Keane's Chimney Sweep
Choose this company because of the rating. Seemed pricey for the work but had them come out. Never went on the roof to clean the chimney but said they could reach it from below. Informed me that the furnace chimney was damaged and should have a liner installed. Price for liner and cap over $1.5k with no discount for previous work. Took several reschedules for install due to parts being shipped. Finished and said everything was complete. Two weeks later on Christmas morning I tried to light a fire in the fireplace and filled the downstairs with smoke. Got the log out and checked the flue myself. It was very windy that day so I wasn't sure if the new cap could be causing a problem. After pulling out the flue I found the cinder box 1/8 full of debris. Cleaned it out and reinstalled. Called to ask them about the bad draft, the debris, and if the new cap could be the issue. They said they would need to come out and see what the problem was. After coming out they said the issue was the wood I was using and that the draft was fine. Then they tried to bill me for a service call. I politely pointed out everything that they were contracted to do and what I discovered that they didn't. I suggest that you look for a more professional service and realize that you don't always get your money's worth. The three star rating is generous because they at least came out to inspect their work which should have been done after the initial cleaning and cap install.

The contractor immediately answered the phone and came out the same day to get measurements. I was told I would get an estimate the next day. I never heard from him again. This was very unprofessional to me. I would not recommend him he does not follow through.

Original fixed price bid was retracted and replaced with a time and materials quote on day one. This was a disappointment, and ended up more costly, however there was no slacking on the job or the professionalism with which it was conducted. The result is better than new. I will be looking them up again in the future.

I spoke to Randy mid March, 2017. About 2 weeks later he came to assess the situation at my property. I got a call from him with the issue and the price to repair the problem with my chimney. I called a couple days later and requested an appointment for the service and spoke to Randy. He advised i will get a call back the next day for an appointment. It has been over a month and yet to have a date schedule.

The overall experience was excellent. High quality work and excellent people to work with. Very pleased with everything that was done and the compliments from neighbors have not stopped. They even took the time to address minor issues and repairs that neighbors asked them to look at while they were there.

Found Daryl on Angie's List. Received a quote from him for a client's chimney repoint. His price was reasonable. He showed up and did quality work. Hired him again for another client. This time, he did not call the client back or show up when he said he would. I called him on behalf of the client, he showed up, completed the work and again satisfied. I called him to do some repointing work on my home. He gave me a quote and scheduled a time to do the work. I waited the couple weeks he requested, I called him the night before and left a message to remind him of our appointment. He never called or showed up. This set me behind as I needed him to do the repointing before I could install the landscaping. One time no show, give the guy another chance. Two times, no show... unprofessional and unacceptable.

I found Mr. Hunsberger's reviews to be promising. I call him on 5/11/16 and left a message. On the morning of 5/13/16 I called again since I had yet to receive a returned call. When I spoke to Mr. Hunsberger he stated he was going to call me that afternoon (maybe?). We briefly discussed the work I needed done and we made an appointment for the next morning at 0800. Mr. Hunsberger showed up the next morning (5/14/16) as discussed, and was a few minutes early (good). We discussed the work needed to be done, he took measurements, and stated he would provide me with a quote either that day or the next (5/15/16).

As of 5/18/16 I had yet to receive a quote from Mr. Hunsberger and called and left a message. As of the date of this post (5/21/16) I still have yet to receive a quote or even a returned call in response to the message left on the 18th.

It is quite obvious, Mr. Hunsberger is too busy to follow through with his commitments. Needless to say, I did find and hire a contractor NOT on Angie's List.
