Car Inspection reviews in Harrisburg

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Amazing. The price is unbeatable as I've had places basically charge me the same amount just because it's high mileage (> 200k). Everything was done within a few hours. No complaints at this point. Would definitely use them again.

  • They beat the dealership hands down up there. These guys don't joke you around. The first time I encountered them was when my car banged my 67 beetle, I went up there to get parts. They replaced the whole bumper for 20 bucks. I have been going to them ever since and have never been disappointed.

  • Seemed great at first... My car had a misfire so I took it  in to get new sparks/wires as well an inspection... 4 days and 1300+ later I got my car back only to find that they weren't able to do the inspection... apparently my car needed to be driven to have all of the sensors reset.
So for over 2 weeks I drove my car... put 400+ miles on it and 2 of those sensors would not set. I even told the mechanic at one of times back to the garage to check the codes that it was running louder than before and idling higher than usual... he shruged. Saturday I did what I should have done from the beginning and called the dealer. According to them, Wolfe's garage put in the wrong spark plugs and this was causing the sensors not to set. I called Wolfe's back today and asked the service manager who told them my car required double platinum plugs and was told "their supplier" . I told them what the dealer told me and I asked them to put in the correct spark plugs.... even spoke to the owner but refused. He insisted the dealer was service AND parts managers were both wrong and then started recommending additional (and fairly expensive) repairs despite the fact that no diagnostic errors are being generated and the check engine light was not on.
So prior to me requesting the correct parts to be installed, his response was to keep driving the car... even if it took 2 more weeks... just keep on driving it. But as soon as blame came back to them and the parts they installed, additional repairs are needed (which would run over $1,000.00 if all 4 oxygen sensors were "bad" replacement) .. the timing of his revelation just seemed too sketchy and I told them flat out I no longer trust them and we are done.
Maybe someone else will have a better experience then I did but next time I'm going to the dealer or doing the work myself... it really was not cheaper, faster or more convenient to go here, especially given how things turned out, all the attitude I got in the process (the service manager likes to argue), the fact that my car had all these bad parts that my prior garage never identified which seemed strange) and now I may have to spend an additional $600 to replace the incorrect spark plugs they insisted my vehicle called for... Lesson Learned!

  • I have a natural distrust of mechanics.
After all I have been robbed so many times that I hesitate going to them. I
would prefer to do it on my own before allowing some money grabbing mechanic to
touch my vehicle. I received a warning from the local police department for not
having my vehicle inspected. I told you I disliked mechanics :-) So this time I
was force to see someone. I thought about going to the big name places, but
decided to look on Angie's list instead. I'm glad I found Kreitzer. On the last
day of the warning notice, I called and they managed to squeeze me in for the
inspection, which I was fortunate because they seem to have a lot of customers.
The customer service was great. They allowed me to pet down a couple cats and
dogs on the property. They offered me a free vehicle loaner, which I declined
and took a walk. The inspections came back as PASSED and they rotated my tires
for FREE this time.. Oh my. I mean, I showed up in a suit/tie, and probably had
desperate sucker written on my forward. Mentally I was prepared for them to
tell me a couple things, but these people were actually honest. Imagine that?!
I been told once you find a good mechanic you stick with them. So I am no
longer going to change my own oil, brakes etc. My wife is no longer going to
yell at me for greasing up the garage and taking 5 hrs. for a 30 minute job :-)
    I am going to Kreitzer.

  • I drive an old car with very high miles. They could easily have told me many things were wrong and needed replaced or worked on. They, as always, were cordial, and true to their AAA certification, were honest and reliable. They told me my car was as safe as they could tell for the trip, giving me the confidence to drive 775 miles round trip in my old car (on tires I bought from them previously, that they recently rebalanced for me, free of charge). Many thanks!

  • I've been using them since we moved to Harrisburg 3 years ago. They are very nice and they know what they are doing. They work around my schedule to do what they have to do. They are good with pricing. I will definitely continue to use them.

  • I took my 02 Ford Explorer to them for the annual emissions and state inspection. I told the desk clerks NOT to do anything to my vehicle until they CALLED me with any repairs that were necessary for inspection of the vehicle. I dropped it off early, by 11 am I received a phone call from the service rep telling me that my vehicle needed approx $1400-$1500 worth of work to pass inspection!! I was in shock, as I went over the vehicle briefly and knew the repair history of the SUV and knew it wasn't going to need anything major, if anything. The list he gave was as follows: Front brake pads, rear ebrake shoes and rotors, upper control arms (2), and both rear wheel bearings. I told the guy not to do ANYTHING to my SUV and I was picking it up to take it for a second opinion. I knew I had already recently repaired at least half of the items on their list!
I picked up the SUV, took it to my regular repair shop and they went over the vehicle thoroughly. Paying close attention to the list of recommended repairs from Tire Mart. They called me to tell me my car was finished and the bill was only $245. I was so surprised! They were livid with Tire Mart. Said they see this crap happen all the time and that shops like Tire Mart should be closed down for falsely billing people for things that don't need replaced. My regular shop was pleased to tell me that my car only needed a ball joint and that NOTHING on the list from TIRE MART even needed repaired.
Tire Mart even has the nerve to send me a bill for Emissions testing. After i told them to do NOTHING to my vehicle until they called me for the authorization to go ahead with any work!!!
I warn everyone now...don't trust a repair facility!!!

  • I was really happy to get the car inspected for less than a $100. I enjoyed our conversation while I waited and Mr. Kreitzer's friendly furry receptionists were an added plus. I like the fact that you could get a loner car or shuttle service if you office is close enough this is one feature my previous mechanic could not offer. I will use Mr Kreitzer in all my future repairs. Thanks Mr Kreitzer it was a pleasure doing business with you and your rescued furry friends.

  • Great as always..

These folks have been taking care of inspections, oil changes and tires for my car for about 12 years now.
They are very friendly, knowledgeable and absolutely great.

  • Made a reservation by phone at 5pm the previous day.  They performed the service at 8:30-9:00 am the next morning. The shop is untidy, but their knowledge and professionalism are first class.  I have dealt with the current owners and their predecessor for more than 25 years.
