Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care
They replaced some sensors (speed?) inside which solved the shifting, recommended a garage to help with the Misfiring (catching). Car runs great now, wish I had done this sooner.

They do a great job and we can depend on them to fully analyze & check our cars. We've been going to them for quite a while and will continue to do so.

    Bob's Transmissions of West Michigan
Fantastic!! Bob and his staff were helpful beyond expectations. They took the time to explain things, worked with me to give an amazing price, and their work on the car was thorough. They are complete, timely and professional. I thought my car would be in the shop all week, and they had it done very quickly! This place is fantastic. I would recommend them to anyone and will bringing all my future needs to them. So nice to have car shops like this that you can trust! Thank you Bob's!!

    Bob's Transmissions of West Michigan
I was referred to Bob's Transmission (Hudsonville) by our longtime mechanic Ron, from Rosewood Auto Service in Jenison. From the initial inquiry phone call to Bob's Transmission in Hudsonville through completion of transmission replacement, the service and quality of work was phenomenal - I couldn't be happier. In most instances when I seek a service, I perform extensive due diligence before making contact. My first steps are reviews on Angie's List and other sources via Google. Once I make contact, key things I then look for include courtesy, openness, and a detailed overview of a process itself. In this case, I received all three during my initial phone call inquiry. Jamie at Bob's Transmission (Hudsonville) was extremely courteous and open - he carefully explained the entire process. I don't think it couldn't have been much easier. It was crystal clear Bob's Transmission had a well thought out, and incremental  'no pressure' process. The vehicle was non-functional due to transmission failure. As a first step, Jamie offered to have it towed (about 30 miles) at no charge for a free estimate. This assumed verification of a transmission issue, and agreement to ultimately have it repaired, rebuilt, or replaced at Bob's Transmission. After the free inspection, if it was decided not to move forward, I'd then be responsible only for the towing fee. To me, this was extremely low risk and came with 'no pressure'. Next, once diagnosed as transmission failure, Jamie provided an estimate, carefully laid out a repair plan, with options, and a timeline. Upon alignment on a transmission replacement plan, Bob's required 50% down payment to cover cost of parts and assure commitment to the repair (once ordered, parts cannot be returned). It was estimated the parts would take about 1-2 days for delivery and an additional 1-2 days for replacement. I was anticipating completion of the work on a Thursday, and was pleasantly surprised to receive a call 2 days early that the work was complete! We picked up the vehicle, paid the remaining balance, and were on our way! Another key element I look for in a business is how they respond when unforeseen issues arise. We experienced a minor leak the first week of driving the vehicle. I called Jamie and he immediately got us in for an assessment. The issue was  diagnosed as a bad seal (unrelated to the transmission installation). The new seal was immediately ordered and replaced at no charge! My compliments to Jamie, and the mechanics at Bob's Transmission in Hudsonville. A job well done! Highly recommended!

    Bob's Transmissions of West Michigan
I picked  Bob's based on the reviews and rating on Angie's list.   We dropped the car off after their normal working hours, per a prior agreement, one of their workers waited for us so we could discuss the problems the car was having (slipping in first 3 gears).  The next day they called and confirmed what I expected, the transmission needed to be replaced.  Their estimate was 1500 to 2000 dollars, which was 200 to 1000 dollars less than other estimates I had received from two other transmission shops I had called.  We decided to let Bob's do the work, they told us it would be done within 3 days and would call us when it was done. It was done within the estimated time, and within the estimated cost, and at least to date, we are satisfied with the work.  The car is driving and shifting "normally" now, only time will tell the long term reliability, but the replacement transmission has a 1 year warranty and it appears that Bob's stands behind their work, so we are hopeful that we will get many miles of good service from the transmission.

    Bob's Transmissions of West Michigan
My transmission was slipping and not going in reverse. From the first test drive I was impressed with the shop. The mechanic took me in the car for a drive and explained exactly what he was listening and looking for to determine the extent of potential repair needed.  I am a home mechanic myself so I had a good idea of what needed to be done.  I was able to fully agree with and trust the mechanic's information after the test drive. The quote was comparable to two other shops. It came in just a little less than one. Even though there were a couple of difficult parts to get, the final bill was as the quote was written for. The work was completed by the date estimated.  I have since recommended Bob's Transmission to two coworkers who have also had excellent experiences with their work that was done.

    Pat O'Neills Transmission Service
I had my 2005 Mazda into the dealership for service and they said I needed a new transmission. Someone told me to take it to a transmission place to make sure it really needed to be replaced and not just some repairs. Thankfully I found O'Neil's Transmission. I told them what the dealership had said and asked them to check it out. They were able to repair my transmission for less than $300 instead of $3,000. This is the place to go in G.R. If you need to have work done on your car. Great owner and a company you can trust.

    Pat O'Neills Transmission Service
The work went very well. I've had Oneill's do transmission work before, and the work has always been done well at a reasonable price. This repair was a major transmission rebuild for an older car. We got an accurate estimate the first day, and the transmission was entirely rebuilt in three days. It's an older car, so they went the extra mile to find some parts that weren't easily available. I'm happy to recommend these guys, and I'd use them myself any time I have transmission trouble.

    Bob's Transmissions of West Michigan
I have had them replace at least five transmissions. After calling around, I found that this place is usually $500 less than other quotes. They usually have the vehicle back in two days time. I think that they do a great job.

    Bob's Transmissions of West Michigan
I telephoned Bob's Transmissions and the call was answered by Bob himself.  We had a lengthy conversation about what my car was doing and sounding like.  He was able to describe some of the noises and symptoms to me before I had told them to him!  He gave me a verbal quote over the phone as to a reasonable cost range to expect.  He arranged a flatbed tow truck to pick my car up and bring it to his shop at no additional charge to my quoted repair. My car was picked up within the hour.  The next business day I received a call from Bob with the diagnosis, which was worse than expected.  However, he honored his verbal quote to me and I did not pay one penny more than the maximum of the range he quoted, including all the towing, fees and taxes, etc.  The repairs were completed the next day and I was back on the road. The car runs better than it has in years. I would absolutely recommend Bob's Transmission of West Michigan on Plainfield Ave. to anyone looking for an honest transmission repair facility in the Grand Rapids area.
