Procoat did an excellent job. Provided initial estimate quickly, and the final bill met that estimate. When they needed to reschedule due to weather, they contacted us ASAP with an alternate date. They showed up when expected. I am very pleased with the results.

very good. They took the time to determine how to go about with the service, then quoted me. Since the weather was iffy, I took photos and sent them to them and they stopped by and gave me a quote. It was raining, and he could see from the photos that more thought would be needed to address the driveway.

over quality was below average. When they came back to fix the problem, it ended up being worse looking than when they started. Said they would come back in 6 months and seal coat it free. We'll see if that makes any difference. Would not recommend them for any job.

I used their services for the same repair 3 years ago and it went fine. However, the issue has arisen again - area of the driveway sinking - in the same spot. I asked them to quote out a re-repair. Apparently they don't need the work / want my business.

Well it went great, did a good job, very friendly, but did the job around 2pm and there was a chance of rain and unfortunately two hours later it rained. And when it rain it was not dry, and the seal ran. So I called them and she said he would call him, and he called within the hour and took a look at it, before I could say anything he said that he redo the job since it rain. But due to the rain the last few days it has been hard to schedule so we don't have this problem again. Today he came out to my house at 10 oclock and redid the drive and did not charge me.

    Jerry's Asphalt Paving
My neighbor and I share a long driveway and, as-of this summer, it had not been properly maintained or sealcoated for what appeared to be more than 10 years (before my time). The portion of the driveway nearest my house was losing the top layer of asphalt. It was breaking apart and, since it was only about an inch thick, it was not a pretty sight. It created a big mess of small, loose pavement and it continued to get worse over time. The Michigan winters, and the plow trucks had taken a toll. It was pretty clear that it was going to be a big job to fix the mess. All told there was 3600 ft. of driveway that needed to be worked on. (Costing $7000-8000) I asked three companies, including Jerry, to come bid the job. Jerry's bid was the highest of the three but it was clear from all of the discussions (and based on the written estimates) that the work he proposed was going to be better quality. For the portion of the driveway that needed a complete tear-out, the other companies proposed 1.5" base and 1.5" of top. Jerry's quote specified a thicker base (2" of 13a base) and he would guarantee the work for a full year. For the 2500 ft part of it that was to be an overlay, Jerry also recommended a thick top layer. He also outlined his ideas about saw-cutting the edge of it (the border of my neighbor's old driveway). This older section of the neighbor's drive would not being re-paved. The saw cuts would ensure that the new asphalt would join up against the old in straight lines that would have better strength over time. The goal would be to decrease the chance of problems. In this portion of the driveway (2500 ft) that was to be overlayed, there was also a large sink-hole. Jerry said should be saw-cut and totally removed, to avoid having a recurring problem in my new overlay. At first I was not very eager to offer Jerry the work, since the cost was higher and I didn't like the prospect of getting my neighbor (and wife) to agree to the *highest* of the three bids. But I reconsidered after realizing that I wanted my driveway to last 15-20 years in Michigan winter, and I didn't want any trouble with it, other than normal maintenance/sealcoating. I also quickly realized that I had to throw out the lowest of the three bids (from a company that wasn't responsive to phone calls, and gave a very low-ball bid, and had a very vague estimate that was mostly a pre-written template, and wasn't likely to do a good quality job). After narrowing myself down to only the two estimates, I called Jerry's competition and spoke with them for a while. I soon became convinced that Jerry's prices were reasonable given the additional (.5") asphalt and all the extra saw-cutting of the edges, and the removal of the sink-hole. So with Jerry I got: - more asphalt - better expertise and ideas about how the job should be done - meticulous workmanship (he describes his proposal in detail) - his experience seems to include commercial driveways as well as residential - his pride in the end results of the work, not just the money I'm very satisfied, and would recommend Jerry to others. I have no concerns about the quality of the job, and expect the driveway to hold up very well over time.

To tear out sod and dirt, then remove in an area approx.  490´sq ft.  then fine grade and  compact existing base, then furnish and machine lay 2´´ of  13 a base and compact, then furnish and machine lay 1.5´´ of  36 a commercial top and compact .  Total  3.5´´ which  is a bare minimum in MI.

    Huyser Asphalt Paving & Sealcoating
We originally got the estimate for the work the end of May, at which time they told us the schedule for job start was about mid June.  We gave them a 1/3 of the bill down payment.  We were told they would call us when we were closer to job time so we could pull a permit from the city of Kentwood.  Around the end of June they said we could get the permit.  When we went to buy the permit, they were not registered in Kentwood.  The company told us they would get reregistered and let us know when that was completed.  A little over a week later we went down to pull the permit.  At that time they told us we were on the schedule for the end of July.  The end of July came and went.  We were told that due to weather they were a little behind but would be on the schedule in the next week.  The first week of August past without a peep.  I spoke with the rep who assured me the job would be done soon.  We were assured that the job would start  August 10 or 11. The rep stated he would call me when he had the specific day.  On August 10 the job was not started.  I contacted the rep again and was told they would assuredly be here August 12.  I returned home at 4:30 PM on the 12th to see that nothing had been started.  I left a message for the rep and then decided to call the CEO.  The CEO answered on the first ring and told me he had no idea what was going on because he wasn't in charge of our job.  He tried to blow me off, but I insisted he hear about the unsatisfactory communication and non service we had received thus far.  One hour later the crew arrived.  I was a little afraid we would be in for a poor job.  I was pleasantly surprised how well our job was done.  The workers did an amazing job.  They cleaned up everything before they left.  The new driveway and sidewalk are beautiful!
If you can get past all the communication issues of the sales and supervisory staff, you will find that the work crew is the star in this company.

Pitch Black Paving resurfaced our driveway right before an unexpected and very hard rain (and before the material applied could dry). They called us right after the rain to inquire how the driveway was doing.  When we told them some of the material had washed away they immediately scheduled to come out the next day to fix it.  The guys that did the work were polite and professional.  They did a great job and we were so impressed by how responsive they were.  We would recommend them to anyone and will use them in the future.
