Grand Rapids General Contractors Reviews

"Rich, the owner, showed up promptly for an estimate professionally dressed. He listened to our needs and was able to help with many other suggestions not given by other contractors. He thoroughly examined the job and made us see clearly that our roof was caving in from lack of support. His suggestions gave us confidence in his ability, we could see he knew exactly what he was talking about. He brought his crew over once we decided to go ahead and did a "walk through" to ensure we all knew exactly what was being done.

were courteous, knowledgeable, they were extremely tidy with equipment and materials (even hiding such behind our large trees so it was not an eyesore from the kitchen window).

and

arrived at least 15 minutes early every morning, they were professional, cleaned up the porch and yard beautifully when they finished. Rich and

took the time to thoroughly go over everything they had done. We are thrilled with the work and how it was accomplished.

"We wanted our home painted in time for our open house, and
Grand Rapids General Contractors Provider Name Locked
said he didn't think it would be a problem. The weather didn't cooperate the first week and I thought for sure it wouldn't happen - only the power washing had been done. But in week two, the crew appeared and it was almost magic how quickly they worked. By the Friday before our open house they were 95% done, and they finished up on Monday, even painting our front railings and the floors of our upstairs and downstairs porches, which we hadn't expected. My only wish is that they had been able to scrape more of the old paint (from years past) off, but I know from doing it ourselves the last time that it's stuck like cement. So the job's a little bumpy in some areas. But overall, a fantastic job, on time, within budget."

"The man that did the work did a really good job. He had no problem going to pick up certain supplies that I needed. I thought that he was very friendly and professional."

"Overall I was not satisfied with the quality of the painting throughout the house. It was quite apparent that very little prep work was done on the trim. Some windows/doors looked as if they were not painted. The old paint wasn't sanded smooth, but just left and painted over. There are cracks already appearing in the joints on some of the crown molding, proving that no caulk was used prior to painting. There were also a few dried paint drips/runs that showed the work was done quickly, with little care. Other issues were in the bathroom that had wall paper removed where it was clear that the walls were not prepped before being painted. Some of the wall paper glue was painted over along with unfilled nail holes, a drywall

and some gouges resulting from the removal of the wallpaper. There was an attempt made by
Grand Rapids General Contractors Provider Name Locked
to fix the bathroom issues, but it still looks sub-par after the repairs and we were not willing to go through a third attempt.
One other issue was that the freshly painted ceiling in one of the bedrooms was soiled by a
Grand Rapids General Contractors Provider Name Locked
worker who was installing the venting for the bathroom fan.
I will note that
Grand Rapids General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was willing to come back to fix these issues, but we were not in a position to have workers in our house for another week as we had a brand new baby at the house, and the fumes could have been dangerous. Aside from the safety issues, the sheer inconvenience of having to have a job done twice (or three times) to get it right was not worth it. Also it was clear that
Grand Rapids General Contractors Provider Name Locked
didn't think that the work was sloppy, but that maybe my expectations were too high. I will say that my expectations were high, but when I pay "professional painters" to do a job that I could have done better, I have the right to be disapointed.
I hate to officially log my complaints, especially since I think the owner of
Grand Rapids General Contractors Provider Name Locked
is such a nice fellow, but I think it's important for potential consumers to learn about the experiences of others (good and bad). I also think these reviews can be constructive for the business proprietors to make necessary changes and learn from their shortcomings.

"Had used Mr.
Grand Rapids General Contractors Provider Name Locked
in the past and was very satisfied with his service. I called him when I was having the exterior of my house painted and we found that a piece of siding was cracked and needed to be replaced. I call Mr.
Grand Rapids General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. He responded quickly and professionally. As I noted above,
Grand Rapids General Contractors Provider Name Locked
did the necessary measurements, bought the replacement lumber, and installed the siding. He also patched a hole in the garage that was proving to be an entrance and exit for squirrels that live in trees near our house. I'll use him again if I need a handyman or carpentry work."
