Eye Care reviews in Fort Worth

    Excel Eye Care of Texas
They were able to fit my wife in on short notice, however there were issues with billing. A $25 visit ballooned to a $105 visit when pricing for a contact lens fitting was added. Wouldnt have been as big of a deal had they been up front about the cost prior to the service, but being informed of a fee only after a service is rendered was a bit of a black-eye. Office worker started at 100% sure she said the price, but that quickly changed to a well I may have forgotten to say it. Asked for a refund on that part of the bill and was given a hard No. Pricing with insurance is about what other offices charge for services without insurance. Make sure you know what your plan covers in the form of a complete breakdown and not service as a whole, otherwise you will walk out shorter on cash than expected.

The phone rep and in house consultation rep were not professional which is important to me re the health of my vision esp if a procedure like Lasik would be performed i filled out their web form regarding Lasik on Friday 8/12 expressing interest. A representative called soon after left a message that said something about giving me a "shout out" about my expressed interest. Red flag number 1 - when dealing with the health and welfare of my eyes I dont not want any person associated with affecting my vision to be as a rep of that business giving me a shout out. It is not professorial - I called back not sure if I spoke with Kevin Clemons Director of Operations but it sounded like the individual who left a message. Again the welfare of my vision for a lifetime I want professionals not someone trying to be cool and fly. I spoke to the person about scheduling a Saturday appointment and then he mentioned none would be covered and it would be between $3500-4000 I had another ongoing appointment couldnt continue the conversation and needed to think about it and he asked if I was interested I told him 'just forget about it'. After my appointment I decided perhaps I could afford so I called back got a woman who took my info and then received a call back about 15 minutes later. It was the same individual who left the message- i then scheduled a Saturday appointment for 8:30 8/13. I arrived Saturday 8/13/2016 at 8:25. Signed in then waiteed about 15 minutes. Eventually a female representive who was not dressed professionally called me into a room and immediately went to the conversation I had with the person on the phone whom I told 'just forget about it' then later scheduled the Sat appt with. She asked me "do i want to be here" and referenced the point I said I am not interested. I told her I rescheduled. She persisted and said it says you were not interested. I told her obviously I was else i wouldnt have rescheduled. She then told me the Lasik for $4000 would correct my far vision but if I wanted to read it would be between $7500-8000 - twice as much. She mentioned I could use readers with the $4000 procedure it just depended on what I wanted then referenced the initial conversation where i told the guy forget about it ,,,again! I asked why she keep circling back to the conversation defending her co worker ...I then asked if the lesser expensive procedure could be corrected later so I could not need readers she told me it could but they would make one eye myopic (out of focus or weaker). I then asked if the more expensive procedure would make one of my eyes myopic and she told me it would not. So for twice as much At that point she circled back to the conversation again I had with the first person asking yet again did I want to be there given I told the first person I was not interested. I then explained the fact I had anmother appointment rethought the expense and called back to schedule the appointment. Had I not wanted to be there I would not have driven there on a Saturday morning. She then told me I was being combative asked if i was even interested in the lesser expensive procedure at which point I told her the initial impression of the unprofessional shout out made me think I am dealing with people who were more interested in being cool than the health ad welfare of my eyes. Secondly to use the initial conversation as leverage to try to pressure someone to spend twice as much as was pitched by the person on the phone is unscrupulous. I do not know VISION what the professionals are like behind the scenes but the people I dealt with one the phone and in person were not professional. The receptionist was nice. In retrospect I have had more courteous professional experiences at optometry offices in the shopping mall

They were good. It seems to be a little commercial, but we both had very good luck. The office was very pleasant. The punctuality was good. They could give a little more personal or individual attention. They kind of run you through. They have a set up where you go to one, wait for a few minutes and then go to another, it is just a little commercial to me.

I stopped by and asked them why my frames were rusting and lenses scratching and they were not very nice about it. Only would say that I must have scratched the lenses.
I've worn this material lenses for many years and never had scratching until I went to Vision City.  Their frames and lenses are inferior materials.

I use Vision City out of Lake Worth.  I was there six months ago.  They have incredibly young staff there that  don't seem to really give a shi# about anybody.  There not very good with there customer service.

He seems quite competent and easy to talk to. His staff is nice as well. I felt his philosophy of watchful waiting regarding my condition jived well with my personal philosophy. He will continue to monitor me to see if I require medication or further therapy in the future.

    Putman, Dr. Joe
I have been using him for probably 15 years or better. He is on time, very nice guy. I like him. He does great job. I have used mono vision. I have used bifocal contacts so on and so forth. He has always been on top of it. He advised me to go see my medical doctor because he thought I had diabetes and came to find out he was right.

I will not return to this office.  My prescription for new contacts was to be emailed or faxed to the supplier.  In the past with another provider I've gotten my order within a week.  This time I waited 2 weeks and had not received them.  I called the office. They had no record of submitting my order.  I explained that they could look for a fax confirmation to verify that the order was received.  The girl I was speaking to did not know what a fax confirmation was.  She told me they only get those when a fax DOESN'T go through.
Upon further investigation on my part with the supplier, I found out that my order was no where to be found in their system.  I went back to the office to talk to the DO in person and to get a fresh set of contacts since I had been wearing the same contact for 5 weeks.  They readily gave me a replacement set and assured me the order had been placed.  When challenging the validity of that statement I found out that a different person submits the orders - an office manager(?) who is offsite.  I asked why there was no verification in my medical record that the contacts had been ordered and I was told that the offsite person was the only one who had access to that information.  If this is true I'm wondering why the office staff did not transfer me to this manager when I first called? Dr Tran assured me that he would have the prescription reordered and that he would have the office manager call me so that I could be sure that the order was placed.
When I got home I put my new contacts in my eyes.  One of the contacts was the wrong prescription AND WAS EXPIRED!
A few other issues I had with the office:
    -  I had an appointment at noon.  Another person who had an 11:00am appointment arrive AFTER I did.  He was taken back before me.  I was not taken back until 12:45.  Why not make the tardy guy wait instead of someone who was on-time?
    -  HIPAA violation - people are required to sign in when they arrive but the sign-in sheet is left out in the open.  The sign-in stickers are not removed.
    -  When calling the center to make appointments and inquiries, several times I spoke with someone who was so soft spoken I had to ask her to speak up so that I could hear her - annoying!
    - The office staff can't seem to think pass their noses: called the wrong person back, don't refer questions to the appropriate person, wanted me to do the glaucoma test when I came back for my follow-up (it had only been 1 week since the prior glaucoma test)....

    Goode, Dr. Stephen M.
Dr. Goode has been my glaucoma specialist for nearly two years and is extremely knowledgeable and quite thorough.  He is a very caring and compassionate man.  His reassuring manner makes dealing with a serious eye problem as stress-free as possible.  His staff is prompt and efficient, and I have never had a billing problem with his office.  I would recommend Dr. Goode to anyone needing the services of a glaucoma specialist.

It went well. The wait after I arrived was short.  The exam was quick and very professional.  I noticed one thing I'd never seen during an eye exam: you sit on a stool with wheels and instead of having to walk from one piece of eye equipment to the next you simply roll over to the next station.  When I called to set up the appointment, I got the impression that my insurance would cover the entire cost of the exam, but after the exam I had a small co-pay.  I don't know if responsibility for the miscommunication was my fault or theirs. Overall, the service provided was excellent and worth the cost.  The office environment is outstanding.
