Chimney Cap Repair reviews in Detroit

Although this review is an A, there are a couple of issues I had with provider during this service. Provider didn't quite do everything that was explained in the discussions about the additional services that were purchased. Also, the chimney cap, that was purchased from and installed by provider, isn't as easy to open and close as represented. That being said, the provider was prompt, very professional, very neat, and very courteous.
Originally, the provider was called in order to have chimney swept and inspected; also, the chute's reservoir was to be cleaned. Provider suggested the installation of a chimney cap and a new fireplace chute cover. The prices that were quoted I understood to include the removal of the all the old fireplace hardware. All of the services discussed were performed. Provider was paid, then he left.
After that, I discovered that the old fireplace hardware was still in place. I contacted provider who stated that he would have had to "grind" out all of the old hardware and was still willing to do come back and do that. I elected to just leave things as they were.
The new chimney cap is closed by firmly pulling a beaded chain in the fireplace straight down and then snapping the chain into a notch located on the side of the fireplace. This is not as easy as the provider made it sound. Opening and closing the cap was done easily by the provider, a young man. I think anyone that has an issue with their arm, or back, will find it very difficult to open/close this cap. Senior citizens probably won't be able to open and close this cap. As it is, I leave the cap open for entire weekends because of the difficulty of using the chain to open/close it. The fireplace is mostly used on the weekend.
While I am not crazy about the chimney cap operation and I wish provider had communicated better what was going to happen (or not happen) with the fireplace hardware, I still strongly recommend Provider name locked. for chimney sweep service.

First the owner Provider name locked. came out and looked at my house and identified what his company would do. He worked with me on the timing of getting the work done as there was an illness in my family that meant I had to change the timing of the job. He sent out a very good pressure washer to gently but thoroughly clean off the asbestos siding to prepare it for painting without damaging it
or releasing asbestos. He ordered the paint using his discount so that the price would be lower. Then Provider name locked. and another painter came out and painted. They completed two coats in one day and came back another day to touch up and seal up areas and to re-hang the shutters for me. They were very thorough in cleaning up and careful of my landscaping.
Then Provider name locked. came out to review the work and make sure that I was satisfied before I paid him. While he was looking at the work he saw that I had a problem with my chimney and called an amazing mason who works for him named Nosh Vucinaj. Nosh came right over and looked at the chimney and advised me to fix it before winter or run the risk of ice freezing in between the old wooden frame around the chimney and the deteriorating bricks that could result in leaks into my house, chimney collapse, fire risk, etc.
He also saw that my porch steps needed to be raised up and leveled and showed me some blocks that needed to be replaced and Provider name locked. -pointed. He is a very detailed, thorough and skilled mason. He prepared a proposal to fix the chimney and the other smaller tasks, and followed up right away, getting the materials right away so that he could do the work on the one day when the weather was good as it was very late in the season. He and a helper came out and worked very hard from 8:30am to 6pm to finish everything. He brought very beautiful recycled brick, and the repaired chimney is a work of art.
The house looks so much better painted, and it is a great relief to have the chimney repaired so beautifully. I think that although my house is small, older and has asbestos siding (I am on a limited income) the combination of the paint job and the beautiful masonry on the chimney gives me pleasure to look at every time I step outside or drive up to my house. I would definitely recommend Provider name locked. the people that worked on my house.
