  • I received an oil change in May and was advised I had a transmission leak, so I  researched Independent Transmission on Angie's List.  I took my car in for an inspection and estimate; I told the counter person I was advised of a transmission leak and needed an estimate.  After 90 minutes my car was inspected but no transmission leak was found. The male person in charge - (Manager , I'm not Provider name locked. of his title, although he wore black pants, black shirt, black boots and black baseball cap) repeatedly told me you don't have a transmission leak, as he did so, he paced back and forth while rolling his eyes at me and looking down his nose. Would this person have grimaced another man?  Would he have been more respectful to someone who paid for repairs? I don't understand why I was disrespected. I should not have mistreated in any form!

  • I called Provider name locked. on Fri.6/11 about bringing in my '94 Lincoln Provider name locked. 8. I explained to (Provider name locked. ) that it had been sitting in my garage for 6-8yrs. and i wanted to get it up and running again. I told him that it ran fine when i put it in the garage, but it used to belong to my father who was a diabetic, and when he started having his feet and legs amputated, he figured he no longer needed this car, and so my sister and i stored it in our garage. We figured he would get his Cherokee switched over in a few yrs, and HE would sell the Lincoln. He has since passed away, never doing anything with either car. I explained this in detail to Provider name locked. , and it should be noted that he never expressed condolences for me losing my father. Anyway, I also explained that when backing into my garage, i had pulled up and without knowing, i had run into a bush, so when i backed up, the front fender had caught on a branch which pulled the fender half off. I tried just pushing it back on but i couldnt get it to stay. Provider name locked. told me that's fine. He told me to call back on Monday to see when they would be able to take a look at it, and i would also have to have it towed in because they don't provide that. He also stated that the diagnostic would be $90. Fine.  I called back at 8:20a.m. Monday  and spoke to a very friendly woman named Provider name locked. who said she is the owner's wife. I briefly went over the car's history, she told me to have it towed in after hours or early tomorrow before they open and they would notify me. Fine. I called a tow company (A&M from AngiesList also.) Provider name locked. came out to my house and was EXTREMELY courteous and professional. He towed my car to Northern that evening and got there a few minutes before me, (I'm a slow driver) When i pulled up, Provider name locked. tells me they said they don't want it! I end up talking to Provider name locked. ( the owner) and when i approach him, he has this huge grin on his face, needless to say i don't. I tell him i'm the owner of the Lincoln, and he says yeah, "we don't want it". I said, "excuse me?" He goes on to tell my how he doesnt want that car sitting on his lot, and that his wife Never should have told me to bring it in, but that's too bad! i was struck speechless. I told him that i had spoken to someone on Friday, and had explained everything about the car to him on Friday, and HE told me to call back on Monday which is what i did. So i don't know why you're trying to act like this is all Provider name locked. 's fault, but i got the same message from the man on Friday. So what am i supposed to do with the fact that I've just spent all this money to get it here, and now you're telling me i have to pay MORE money to take it back?He says, "Yeah, I know". Seriously, no apology, no solution, no compensation, nothing but he's still grinning like he's holding in a laugh. I say, "so you've just had me waste my time and money, and i have someplace to be, and the house that i got the car from, i no longer live there so i cant just take it back!" He then says, (still grinning) that i Could leave it there, but he'll have it towed off of his property. I asked if he was serious, still thinking maybe they're playing a prank on me/ maybe i'm on P***'d or something, but no he was dead serious. He tells me the car needs to go to an Auto Body repair shop, and they cant do anything with it, they're not going to be responsible for touching it. I then go on to explain to HIM the car's history and what happened with the bumper, and he FINALLY relents and decides to take a look at it after i convince him that i did drive it into my garage and there was nothing wrong with it when i did. (He also never expressed sympathy for the loss of my dad) The car was on 4flats, the front bumper was hanging down but that was all that was wrong with it. I explained that i have a new job that's clear on the other side of town, and where i was catching the bus to my old job from my old house, that is now not feasable. So i need a car to get to work. While i was arguing with Provider name locked. , Provider name locked. took it upon himself (Thank God and Provider name locked. ) to put air in all of my tires, and to temporarily re-attach the front bumper ( which is still holding today). I signed the paperwork to get the estimate and he gives me a bill for $120. I told him i was quoted $90. by the guy on the phone Friday, and he said, "that's me that you talked to" (Provider name locked. ) and he said okay i'll make it $90. I left Provider name locked. very upset and no longer trusting them or AngiesList.  And because i thought i would just be dropping the car off "after hours", i thought i had timed it just right to drop off the car, return my rental car, and hop on the bus to get home at a decent hour. Nope. With the time it took me to handle the car situation, by the time i got to Enterprise, they were just closing, (they were nice enough to allow me to return the car anyway, and didnt charge me). The next day, i get a call from Northern telling me the estimate is $3,400. Ridiculous. He said i needed a new battery, Provider name locked. , 4 new tires---Why?!!!, front and rear ?calpers?---Okay, and my brake line was leaking fluid so that needed to be replaced. He also said there was alot of rust from the car sitting around, but that was most definitely a lie. I may not know alot about cars, but i know rust when i see it, and there was very little from what i saw, as well as Provider name locked. . I thought maybe i wasnt lookin in the right place at first, cuz the car looked amazingly clean under the hood, but when Provider name locked. , just curious looked, he calls me over and states that the car for some reason has no rust. He said my dad must've taken really good care of it (which he did) and we put it right into our garage and never messed with it. So, needless to say i did not allow them to work on my car mainly because i no longer trusted them after our first face-off. When i went there to get the car, Provider name locked. showed me the break down of the estimate, and it was NOWHERE near $3,000. It was just under $2,000. I didnt say anything because i didnt care how much they would've charged me at that point i wanted nothing more to do with them. They are extremely unprofessional and i cant get over how Provider name locked. just kept grinning in my face, like he was happy he had me waste both my time and money.
