  • I was so happy to find someone to fix these 2 machines. One is a 1920s vintage machine that my 76-year-old mom bought used in the 1950s. It has always been a great machine (though it doesn't have any fancy stitches and has to be used with a button hole attachment), but I hadn't used it in many years. The last time I used it, the needle jammed. I bought a new machine for under $100 about ten years ago to do some repairs on clothing because I didn't think I could find anyone to fix the old one.
. So, right after I joined Angie's List, I took out the new machine to do some clothing repairs and it jammed immediately. I took both machines to Mr. Sewing Machine and really decided in the car to just get the new one fixed. When I came in, Antonio took one look at it and said the thread was what was causing the problem. I had a spool of quilting thread that I didn't realize wasn't going to work on the machine. He replaced the needle and thread and fixed the machine in under 5 minutes. He wasn't going to charge me, so I decided on the spot to let him work on the old machine. I went out to my car to get it out of the trunk and Antonio followed me. When he saw the old case his eyes lit up because he knew I had an old gem of a machine. It was jammed because of the wrong thread too, so he fixed that and gave it a good cleaning and replaced the cord on the foot pedal. It was $99, which I thought was quite reasonable. I have since used the machine to finally repair some clothing, and once I remembered how to thread it correctly, it worked great. It was wonderful to find someone as knowledgable as Antonio.

  • My sewing machine had been skipping stitches and I couldn't figure out why. I thought perhaps there was a problem with the tension adjustment. When I arrived at the shop and the technician looked at the machine, he informed me that the needle was actually mounted in reverse and made no attempt to charge me for the service. Everyone at the shop was very pleasant. Would definitely take my machine there again for any problems.

  • After having delivered  the sewing machine to the repair shop I left with the impression that the repair man was afraid I might not come back to pick up the machine. Perhaps the work that needed to be done was difficult,  perhaps it is not easy to find employees with those specific skills. Overall I had the feeling that my request was another burden to them with the fear that no one was going to come back to pick up the machine nor pay for the work.  Perhaps the issue may have been just space to store items waiting to be picked up. I did send my son and daughter to pick up the machine and pay for the machine.
I don't quite know what was the real problem but I did sense resistance. I have not yet tried the machine, but if I need to I will use them again. I will go back without prejudice: I just don't expect friendship just cordiality and professionalism.  I need to add that I don't remember the exact date of service, it could have been in the fall or winter.

  • Gentleman was able to take care of my machine quickly while I waited. I was asked specific questions about the problems with the machines and the main problem was my error while threading the machine - I had forgotten to lift the pressure foot while doing so. He demonstrated how, when threaded properly, the problem was solved! As the belts were original to the machine & needed replacing that was done while I watched.  All the people at Mr. Sewing Machine were  professional, knowledgeable, and enjoyable to work with. My daughter's machine needed more work so I left it with them. I was told that it would be about 10 days; I was called at the end of that time that the machine was ready.
When I brought the machines in the man carried them in from my car and did the reverse when I left. My daughter & I are pleased and happy with the results and would gladly recommend this shop to any who have need of sewing machine repair.
The only negative about the whole experience in that there is not a large sign in front. Fortunately I'd written down the address & google mapped it so not  too hard to find.
An added bonus: there is a huge fabric shop attached - could s

  • My experience was lousy. I sent them an email describing the things I needed to have done and they never responded to the email. That's been at least a month now. They evidently don't need the work or don't care about having a new client.

  • This is a mom and pop store in Garland, Texas. They are friendly. The repairman is the owner's father. He did a great job and turned it around in a reasonable time and gave me some good advice for keeping the machine in good working order. I believe the $75 repair fee was very fair.

  • I was in the midst of completing a quilt project for a school auction and I had a looming deadline when my circa 1986 workhorse, never been serviced Bernette machine started acting weird; it would sew, but dropped every 12th-14th stitch. No amount of fiddling would get it to act right. I walked in to Mr Bell's store and he stopped everything, sat down and essentially took apart my machine, with me watching. Eventually, in less than an hour, he had diagnosed the problem (parts had become misaligned deep in the inner workings of it) and fixed. Hooray!

  • My sewing machine needed general maintenance. Lin's gave me an estimate of the cost (which was accurate), noted the attachments I'd brought in and tagged it with my name before I left. They estimated it would be 5-6 days for the repairs, but had it finished within 3 days. I was treated very politely and will go back to them if I need further service.
