Woodworking reviews in Columbus

  • The worker (Russel) arrived 2 days after the quote was received and took about 4 days to complete the job. The quality of work was excellent. He was even able to replace the boards without damaging the aluminum trim around the windows and saved me a few hundred dollars.

  • Josh Nye is very impressionable! He is very competent and professional. This company did an excellent job in replacing rotten cedar wood trim on the exterior of our house. Omar is an outstanding carpenter and he did an outstanding job with replacing and staining the cedar wood trim to match the color to the existing/aged cedar wood trim. The staff is great with details and they will respond to your service calls promptly. KUDOS to a great company!

  • There were two phases to this work, we had several rotten or compromised boards replaced and the entire exterior of our house repainted. Carpentry (siding repairs): Phil's carpentry work was outstanding - he did an excellent job, repairing all rotting clapboards and then some. I was very pleased with his work; he treated our house as he would treat his own. I would certainly hire him again. He gets an "A." Exterior Painting: The painting was acceptable -- nothing more, nothing less. Had it been an excellent job (and by that I mean: all peeling and bubbling paint removed, no missed spots, everything caulked properly, everything masked properly, feathering out of rough spots), I it would have been worth the cost, but I give the painting a "C" (see below) so in that regard the cost was high. We live in an older home. After the first day of painting, I noticed that a large section was missed in regards to prep -- the most important part of any painting job. There was still bubbling and peeling paint underneath the new top coat. I showed this to the foreman and most of it was resolved before they added the second coat. I was certainly happy that they addressed it, but still felt it was a pretty egregious oversight. In addition, there are a few areas (corners here and there -- see pictures) that were missed. I will need go back and touch up these areas later. Communication was good and other than the issue of the peeling paint, the crew completed everything that they said they would do in the estimate. (Correct paint, color, work completed, etc.) Final, but minor point, I noticed later that there was quite a bit of debris around the house after the job was done and many things were not put back where they were originally (hoses, rocks, etc.) -- I feel that this is something that should be done.

  • Beautifully! Pat Ashby took our dark, cramped and out of date kitchen and transformed it into a gorgeous, modern, light-filled one that everyone loved. He added storage and work space, using many clever ideas to stay within our budget. He is efficient, reliable and knowledgeable. We will not hesitate to call on him to help us remodel other rooms in our house.

  • I was delighted. Ashby created a serene and stylish space and gave us some very good advice regarding lighting and furnishing . . . he really has an artist's eye. The work was done in a timely manner, with efficient use of the budget and existing features. We really loved his attitude toward his work and his responsiveness to our needs.

  • Through every step of my kitchen remodel process, Elite Home Remodeling showed an exemplary level of excellence. It started with Matt my kitchen designer. He came to my house and, like all designers, assessed the scope of the project and my budget. But unlike other designers I was considering, I was reassured that he not only understood the challenges of remodeling a 100 year old house, but also clearly had an appreciation for its aged charm. Additionally, he took the time to understand me. I am formerly a professional chef who still regularly cooks for large groups of people, so I had specific wants and needs for my kitchen. For me, ease of cleaning, speed, and practicality were the order of the day. When we went to their showroom for our follow-up design meeting he presented us with so many innovative and custom-made touches I was even more excited to do business with Elite than after the first meeting. After this, the process of choosing all the details was enjoyable and went by relatively quickly. Elite, by their own admission, doesn’t emphasize a lavish showroom or advertising budget, but everything you need to make your decisions is there. During this meeting we saw the impressive craftsmanship of their available custom Amish cabinetry and also met the granite fabricator and tile backsplash companies they use. We were just as impressed by them as we were with Elite. By the time we finalized the contract the price was a bit higher than we had originally anticipated, but we were happy to spend the extra amount because benefits were so apparent. Elite’s excellent reputation means they do book many months in advance, so it was about four months before they started work, but this was all explained up front. When work began, they finished on time, if not slightly faster than they originally quoted. Our carpenter, Sam, was hard at work bright and early almost every day. If he was ever going to be late, he always texted me first thing in the morning to explain. His speed, attention to detail, carpentry skills, and cleanliness exceeded my expectations. Whenever there were last minute adjustments or decisions that needed to be made he made sure to consult with me while also offering his expert opinion. The other people Elite works with, like electricians and plumbers, also seemed to share Elite’s values of excellence, speed, and cleanliness. When our kitchen was finished, it was even more beautiful and functional than I had pictured. We have already received many compliments for our kitchen from friends and family who have complimented it for being classy, unique, and full of cool touches that make the most of the space. I find I am able to cook more quickly while keeping the kitchen much cleaner than in my previous kitchen. I highly recommend Elite Home Remodeling in all areas and look forward to working with them again as soon as I can.

  • The job was to finish an attic which required some framing and a lot of irregular angles for drywall. The drywalling came out excellent with nice straight lines and no irregularities. They also did all the door and window framing as well as the baseboard to match the natural maple floor I picked out including an irregular circular window frame that came out very nice. They installed the doors and a hand rail. In addition they installed a skylight and all the lights and electrical fixtures and made some good recommendations for the type of fixtures to use. They also did the insulation work behind the drywall to bring it all up to code.

  • Great. Derek gave me an estimate for each job, and stayed with the estimate. He had to figure out how to do some of the repairs, as they were not straight forward in every case. He kept in communication by cell phone, was prompt and polite. Did high quality work. He cleaned up afterwards. I highly recommend him for your woodworking needs.

  • As a small Interior Design Studio I have high expectations for the people who enter my clients homes and bring my projects to life. My Handyman was referred to me by a colleague and I couldn't have been more delighted! Not only is Trent extremely organized and efficient with his projects but as fast as they moved they never once cut corners! All of the crew was wonderful and very good at what they do. I've already hired them for another job and am looking forward to many more projects with them!

  • Bill Maibach knows what he’s doing. We have a small, older (1940) Clintonville house and he was up to every challenge it presented – from plumbing to electrical to window and tile. Bill and his colleague, Dave, took our broken, tiny space and turned it into something clean, modern and functional. Not a day goes by without our family delighting in this new space – it’s just so pretty! Bill is a fountain of knowledge – he made helpful suggestions and every time we talked about the remodel, I learned something new. Ours was a relatively small job for his company, but he was so patient and took time to explain everything to me as this was my first ever remodel. He has seen it all - and even when faced with a rotting subfloor, crumbling wiring and ancient plumbing, he repaired, replaced and upgraded. We are a one-bathroom household, and Bill’s scheduling made sure that we were never without a toilet or water. Remodeling is a messy job, but the rest of our house stayed clean even through demolition work. I’m so pleased with Custom Home Works that I’ve asked them to remodel our kitchen in the spring.
