Landscaping reviews in Columbus

We had a challenging project to remove a large tree from back yard that had no direct access; enclosed by fence and surrounded by neighbors. Cox brought a crane to lift the pieces over our house and avoid disturbing neighbors’ properties. Project was complete in less than a day, all cleaned up and wood removed.

They were easy to work with and got the job done very quickly. My only concern is that I am now finding that some of the tree root balls were never undone so that the roots could spread. They were still enmeshed and so this has limited their growth and their tolerance for drought.

Norm was very quick to return my initial call on the same day. Norm came out right away, couple days after the call, looked over my yard, reviewed my options and gave me an estimate. I explained I was waiting on a couple other estimates for comparison and would call him if I went that route. Surprise, surprise, got tired of waiting and decided to just go with the company who actually displayed professionalism and expressed interest in having a customer. Even if I paid more, dont care. Norm was professional from day one, even offering a deal. He had his crew come in the day before a heavy storm that was predicted out of concern for my home and getting the back of the house protected. If I had more homes to fix, I'd call Pitzers EVERY time. Norm took the time to address my concerns, e plain the work and not only showed up with his crew, but came early. Will always recommend this company for your landscaping needs. I dont live in a big fancy home, and some companies d9nt want to bother with you you aren't in the "right area", but Pitzers treated me and my home with respect, and that goes a long way in my book! Thanks Norm!!

It went swimmingly. We have been using this company for years and recommended them to the entire neighborhood. Rick is fast, efficient and friendly. Always wears booties over his shoes when he comes into the house and the price is always reasonable. He has done some major projects in the area and the neighbors are always happy that he did the job. There are quite a few Pacific Electric main panels in this area that were recalled 30 years ago as being a fire hazard that were never replaced. Check to see if you have one and if so call Joe Gioffre Electric. No we are not related we just think they are that good.

I had a wonderful experience working with Joe, the owner, and his crew of highly qualified individuals to remove a large Silver Maple that was next to my 2 story apartment building, electrical wires and a large Pine tree. The crane operator and man cutting the tree knew just how to remove this tree over my building. Once the tree was removed, another crew came in with a special crane to load the large logs. Then a few days later, a man came in to remove the massive stump and roots surrounding the tree with a stump grinder. The wood chips had to be 3 feet tall for 15 or more feet across. I also had tree trimming done on some other trees with a smaller truck that had a bucket lift. They all made the job look so easy even though it was a scary process.

Steve and his crew did a first rate job. Steve met with us and walked through the project, then provided us a detailed line item quote with price breakdown. Steve was very conscious of cost containment and provided us ways to get the most for our money. While the weather was not initially cooperative, Steve kept us apprised of projected startvdates and once things got underway, his crew were friendly, hardworking and efficient. Very pleased with the results.

We arranged for him to do regular mowing at my parents' house, and then to clear all the leaves at the end of the season. The house is currently unoccupied. He said he came once to mow, for which we paid him $50. When it came time for leaf cleanup, he told us he planned to come before the last possible curbside leaf pickup, and that he wanted to wait until all the leaves had fallen so that he could do the job in one day. Meanwhile, the neighbor called/texted to complain twice about how terrible the yard looked and offered to have his son clear the leaves. Because of the complaints, I went and cleared the front yard myself (which took 2 hours). When I did this I noticed that the grass was very long. My father asked Nicholas Zieg to confirm that he was coming, since the official deadline to stop raking to the curb had already passed. Nicholas then gave a quote of $380-$400 and said via text, "unfortunately there has been an accumulation of leaves for weeks now this hey I usually do cleanups weekly or biweekly. The back yard is a complete mess..." A screenshot of my father copying the text of Nicholas' estimate and excuse is attached. He also complained about how hard it is to do cleanups this late because the leaves are frozen to the ground. I find this treatment insulting and incompetent. If he wanted to clear the leaves regularly so that the job wouldn't be so big, he should have said so. He charged us $50 for mowing, so clearly he had been in the backyard both to quote the job and to actually mow (unless he didn't actually do the mowing, I have no way to know). This should not have been a surprise. The worst part about this is that he is also apparently incompetent with using text messages, because he attempted to send a text message saying extremely rude things about my father to some friend (?) but accidentally sent it to my father instead. I have attached screenshots of the texts. Overall, this kid is rude and incompetent and has no respect for his customers. You should avoid him and find someone else.

This is a follow up to my review of 12/1/2018. Kyle did get back with me about the service I had requested. He said they had very behind on their schedule due to the very cold and mostly wet weather we have been having. Unusual for this time of year, I told him I would still like to have the work done and he sent a crew the next day. They did a very good job of cleaning up the leaves and moved them to the curb. He came with a crew the next day and hauled them away. I would hire again

Ken Helmlinger and his crew turned a boring, bare area into a beautifully landscaped yard. He met with me and created a lovely design and then got to work making it a reality. I was very impressed with his professionalism, punctuality, and his artistic ability. I was also amazed at how quickly he completed the project! Neither he nor his is crew wasted any time. The crew of men that showed up at my house each day were hard working, attention-detailed, fastidious and fast. They cleaned up at the end of each and every day. The whole process was unexpectedly easy. I hope to add more landscaping in the future and will definitely reach out to Ken Helmlinger Company when I'm ready.

the crew did a fine job of keeping our front and back yards looking great with grass cutting and seasonal clean up and plantings.. We received multiple positive comments about the landscaping thru the selling process.
