He was very punctual in providing the appropriate antibiotic for the type of infection I had. I didn't have to pay because I had met my deductible. I've not needed to see Dr. Smith recently but would gladly return to his office if anything ever developed again. He is an excellent doctor.

Dr. Smith does not keep regular physician hours as he is a "consultant", it takes several days to receive a response from the nurse, she can get quite curt on the phone when you call for help or to ask a question. On one occasion when I complained that she did not call me back her response was "it is what it is" needless to say, I was reluctant to call after that unfriendly response.  The Dr. treated me successfully for about 12 moths until I got a very bad infection and needed to have long term IV antibiotics.  The antibiotics helped at the time but I have had recurrent infections since then.  After another visit to the ER Dr. Smith's nurse told me that he told her he was out of options and I should have a "heart to heart" with my urologist.  She told me that the only antibiotic that would help me is one that I need to get in intensive care or one that I'm allergic to.  I told her I had an appointment with my urologist on Monday (this was Thursday) and that I was concerned that I might get sepsis between now and then, she told me to go to the ER if I felt I was getting sicker.  I asked that the Dr. please send notes to my Urologist and she stated that the Dr. was out of the office for the rest of the week and into the next week and  it wasn't possible to send notes to my URO before my appointment on Monday.  I have never been to such an arrogant uncaring Dr. who is unwilling to do his job by at the very least sending the referring Dr. a follow up call or note.  To tell a patient they are out of options (via a nurse on the phone) and that as an infectious disease Dr. you can't help with a resistant infection?  I feel as though he doesn't want to be bothered with such a sick person. This is unbelievable.
