Neurosurgery reviews in Cincinnati

In Provider name locked. 2010, I had ACDF performed by Dr. Provider name locked. at 2 levels of the cervical spine. After several months my pre-op pain returned. An x-Provider name locked. at that time showed that one level did not fuse.
In June 2011 Dr. Provider name locked. performed a posterior decompression and fusion. Four weeks after surgery I felt approximately 6 "pops" in my neck over the course of one day. Throughout the next week, my incision dramatically changed. The top part of the incision on my neck was "indented" and below that I had several hard white protrusions that I could feel with my hand. I immediately thought that perhaps I was feeling some of the hardware. I called Dr. Provider name locked. 's office immediately to request an x-Provider name locked. , which was done. When I saw Dr. Provider name locked. , his exact response was, "Your x-Provider name locked. looks great! All of the hardware is where it should be". When I asked him what was sticking out of the incision, he said, "Well, that's your bone. Have you started physical therapy yet?"
I left his office absolutely shocked that he sent me away without at least admitting that something was very wrong with the incision and needed to be fixed.
In the meantime, the pain has gotten progressively worse, and my upper back and neck are in constant spasm. I have 3-4 bones protruding from my incision with only a very thin Provider name locked. of skin covering them.
Upon advice from friends in the medical community, I scheduled an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic. The neurosurgeons at Cleveland Clinic could not believe that Dr. Provider name locked. sent me out of his office as if everything was OK. Now I am facing yet another surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. The neurosurgeon is going to perform an exploratory surgery with a plastic surgeon on standby in an attempt to re-cover my exposed bone with muscle and tissue. He is also going to examine the hardware and structure of my spine to ensure that my neck is stable. Because of my wound dehiscence, a trapezius flap may be required because some of the tissue may now be unusable.
It is my feeling that Dr. Provider name locked. runs a "factory" of surgeries. He has no bedside manner, and heaven forbid he should have a patient with a complication. He was highly recommended to me as one of the best neurosurgeons in Cincinnati. I would not recommend Dr. Provider name locked. to anyone.- Kathleen D.
He calmed my down and told me it was not necessary to do a large surgery at this time. Convinced me to only do the surgery that was necessary and to wait as long a possible for a larger surgery. Give the body time and also the medical field to make more advances. I have to have a disc removed at the end of Oct but so far I am very pleased with his bed side manner and his concern for the patients well being. A great addition to the practice.- PATRICK T.
