  • I will never use MicroCenter again or purchase anything from the retail store.

I received the initial diagnosis call after 3 days, which was within reason.  The technician stated the motherboard would need to be replaced and possibly the hard drive and additional hardware.  Unfortunately, he could not determine the extent of the damage until after the motherboard was replaced.  He was to contact Provider name locked. for replacement parts and would let me know the status and estimate of repair expense once he spoke to Provider name locked.

After 2 weeks of no response, I contact MicroCenter for a follow up. I was told the technician was trying to contact Provider name locked. , but had not been able to speak to them yet.  Furthermore, the technician was not working that day so this representative could not speak to him about the status.  The representative was to leave a message for the technician to contact me with the update.

After waiting 2 more weeks, I called MicroCenter again and spoke to the supervisor.  He apologized and said the technician would follow up with me when he came to work the next day. I never heard from the technician and decided to pick up the laptop after 3 days of waiting.  At pickup the technician stated that the file contained notes from the technician that he spoke with Provider name locked.  and the best he could offer was to send the laptop to Provider name locked. for repair.  Provider name locked. would charge $560 for the repair work and MicroCenter would charge an additional $175 for shipping/handling and additional diagnostic work.  Microcenter would then determine what additional repairs were required once the motherboard was replaced.

That was completely unacceptable after weeks of waiting and I decided to take the laptop elsewhere.  I was told that the laptop was not ready for pickup because the technician had disassembled the computer.  After arguments, they told me to come back in an hour and they would have the laptop ready for pickup.

I ultimately contacted Provider name locked. directly and sent the laptop to them for service.  The charge was $560, which included all repair work and all shipping/handling (to and from Provider name locked. ).  Provider name locked. replaced the motherboard and the laptop was returned to me in perfect working order within 2 weeks of originally contacting Provider name locked.

  • My Desktop computer would not power-on. I thought it needed a power supply. I found BCIT on Angies List and gave him a call. Bill stopped by the same day, did his investigation and found it was my mother-board that failed. We discussed options and I decided to have Bill build a new computer (tower only, my monitor was fine). He built the computer (per specs we discussed) and delivered in one week. He delivered it, hooked it up, checked everything out and educated me on some of the new features of Windows 7. He answered all my questions and showed me some useful websites. I was completely satisfied with the process and outcome.

  • Next came the laptop I entered the store and I went back to the computer department specifically to buy a laptop. I knew what I was looking for and honestly I didn't have much hope of finding it because I need a very high power laptop which is a desktop replacement. I went back to find the computer that I needed and there were 2 salespeople for about 10 customers who were rolling their eyes. After waiting for 20 minutes I finally saw one of the salespeople become available so I approached him. I knew exactly what I needed and since I only had a specific question I knew it would be quick. Rather than speak to me he walked away. I then walked over to the other salesperson but they walked away as well. I then went to look for a manager and the girl up front told me there was no manager on duty. She seemed scared and paranoid and told me that I would be best if I waited back by the laptops. So I walked back to the department and when I did I spoke to Provider name locked. . I asked my specific questions he told me that they didn't sell such an animal and that I would need to have it custom made. He also added that no one in Cincinnati area sells the computer. I was also talking to him about a graphic card but he was not able to adequately explain. He obviously didn't know what he was talking about so I decided to go to the gaming department. Provider name locked. was the gentleman's name there and not only did he take the time to research my needs, he also told me I could save 1500 if I bought the computer.I asked him to go get it and when he did the other salesman stuck his commission sticker on the box. I ripped that sticker off the box because he was trying to steal the sale. He started yelling at me and proceeded to argue with me in the middle of the store for ten minutes. He asked what he had done to offend me and I told him that he didn't know what he was talking about computer wise. He rolled his eyes at me and refused to give me the computer and said that I wasn't allowed to carry the computer upfront. So then I talked to Provider name locked. a bit more and he told me that he didn't want to get in trouble because he wasn't allowed to get commission on certain items. I assured him I intended to talk to the manger about both him and Provider name locked. . I went up to pick up my purchases because of their policy and I talked to the GM. I discussed the problem that I had with Provider name locked. and that Provider name locked. was very helpful. I suggested Provider name locked. be moved to laptops. I also wanted to make sure Provider name locked. 's sticker wasn't on the box. The GM said that his sticker wasn't on the box. I bought my items and when I brought it home I couldn't get it to log onto the internet. It makes me wonder now if Provider name locked. did something to my computer. The last 3 days I've spent 8 days on the phone with my provider.
