    Hairston, Dr. John
I saw Dr. Hairston for several years for issues related to OAB. It was a complicated case, and all of the standard medications were tried without success. He did a TURP thinking it might help and it did nothing except ruin my sexual function. Subsequent Urologists have been shocked he would try this procedure. While he did explain the risks to me, he felt there was a high chance of success and there was none. The worst thing is that he seemed to lose interest in my case when it became difficult, and made me feel like he didn't want to treat me anymore, rather than continuing to try to find a solution. I felt no commitment. The feeling I came away with is that while he seems clearly very knowledgeable in his field based on his education and accreditations (you would not know it from my experience), it is time for him to retire from practice and focus on teaching and academics. I would never refer a friend to him and really think he days of active practice are behind him. He has lost the desire

I had bladder surgery a few days following my visit and it turned out to be an early stage of bladder cancer. I was very lucky to have it diagnosed so early. Dr. Challenger was my doctor and I have found him to be quite skilled and down-to-earth.

    Northwestern University
MRI performed in Nov. Follow up with Doctor 2 weeks later. No change in cist growth. Dr wants to follow up with MRI one year. Have been using Northwestern for over 20 years and we have been very satisfied with their great service.

    Flanigan, Dr. Robert C.
Dr. Flanigan is very expert in his area, very willing to discuss and talk things through. He was very patient in listening to a lot of my questions and has a very conservative approach. He's very risk averse in his approach to medicine. He's very good. He's the best doctor I've ever consulted on issue with urology.

    Scott Cinel MD
I've been a patient for many years and been through several procedures. The course of treatment has been classic in that it has followed what would best be described as a gold standard protocol. He is friendly and approach to the patient is consciously intended to lower the patient's anxiety. His approach to the medical aspects is very calculated and scientific.

    Turk, Dr. Thomas
He is an excellent doctor. He has done urology research. I have recommended him to others. I highly recommend him. He offers alternatives. I have had good results. It can be hard to get an appointment.

    Comprehensive Urologic Care
We choose Dr. Richard Troy/Dr. Goldrath because they were highly recommended by others and have done many, many prostatectomy’s (this is something you will want to know when choosing a surgeon). My husband chose the DaVinci robotic surgery as opposed to an open surgery, the reason being a quicker recovery time. However, depending on your insurance it can cost a patient approximately $2000.00 - $2500.00 more out of pocket for the robotic surgery. My husband spent one night in the hospital and was out of the house for a short visit with a friend by day three. By day six he ventured out of the house and went to the movies catheter and all. The catheter was removed by day 10. He was home for 6 weeks because his job requires a lot of physical labor, otherwise the average time off of work is 3-4 weeks. The pain was manageable with fairly low dose pain meds that were taken for about a week. So far his PSA is untraceable and he has to go in every three months for the first year to have it rechecked. After year one he will have to go twice a year for the PSA test. Checking the PSA only requires a blood test. Ask as many questions as it takes to make an informed decision. As far as availability, we make appointments in advance. Their office is very busy. There's a reason for that, their good at what they do.

    Flanigan, Dr. Robert C.
He saved my life eight years ago and I am still cancer free. He is the professor and the head of the department of urology in Loyola University Medical Center. He is the greatest doctor. His office environment is excellent. His communication skills are excellent too.
