    U.S. Waterproofing
US WATERPROOFING LITANY (USWP) 1. Signed contract on October 21, 2019 to have USWP move the sump pump discharge pipe from the exterior of the house to the stack allegedly required by Chicago Building Code. The initial drawing shows the rerouted pipe running under an existing window. USWP also gave me a list of plumbers who could put a Y connector into the stack for the rerouted discharge pipe connection. 2. On 10/25/19 a plumber installed the Y connector fairly high on the stack. He said the new connecting pipe could not run below the windows due to the close proximity to the foundation. I called USWP to set up an appointment for them to finish the job. I told them the pipe has to run along the ceiling, not under the window. 3. USWP came out on 10/31 to finish the job. However, the man who arrived had no idea that the new pipe had to be attached to the ceiling. He did not have the correct parts and could not figure out how to screw a connector/strap into the ceiling. (Even though there are a lot of other things screwed in.) 4. I did not hear from USWP until mid-November. Two workers came out on November 20. They did not have the correct straps. They left. 5. On December 10, I had a carpenter friend of mine mark the places on the basement ceiling where the pipe could be hung. 6. On December 31, USWP workers came out with no parts. I told them to cancel the job. That finally got their attention. Someone from the office finally got the message. They scheduled a worker for January 2. 7. On January 2, USWP finally finished the job. My opinion is that this entire job should have been done by a plumber instead of having to deal with 2 contractors. The plumber could have done the entire job in one visit. This would be more efficient for all concerned. Lastly, clearly the sales person drew the picture incorrectly to start with. Then the plumber and USWP didnt talk to each other. Most importantly, the workers and the schedulers and the people that answer the phones do not communicate with each other. I have no idea how many times I told them that the pipe had to run along the ceiling but none of the actual workers knew this and were not provided with the correct parts.

    Perma-Seal Basement Systems
Made an appointment. No one showed. After calling them, they stated they had an emergency and they left a message. LIE! Made another appointment, they called 5 days before the appointment to cancel because they do not do structural repairs within the city of Chicago. Reach your own conclusions. They didn't want the job. For all their advertising, this company is not worth it.

    Everdry Waterproofing of Illinois
Terrible company to be dealing with who makes a lot of new "rules" to get out of a wrong they won't admit to. Not sure how many representatives they have on their side to help with making appointments but I made my appointment 3 weeks ago with a lady (initial L) in advance because they required all owners in the deed of the home to be present for the appointment. A week later the same lady said she remembered I tried to make an earlier appointment called me back to make an earlier appointment, but I turned down because it would be too last minute to change appointment times. I also confirmed with her before ending our call if my original appointment date and time was still good and it was confirmed. Another week later, the night before my appointment, I received a call from them and when I picked up they dropped my call. I thought it was an error so I didnt think too much of it. The day of the appointment comes and nobody shows up, the lady claims they never made such an appointment with me, and claims it wasn't her who I was speaking with when she clearly remembered what happened on the call the first time I was making an appointment with Everdry. When I called the company again the same lady picked up says I did not confirm with them when they called the day before my appointment when I was never told me I "need" to call the night before my appointment to confirm my actual appointment. That requirement was never spoken of and I confirmed a week before with the same lady on the phone and she could've said something there. Full of excuses this company. Not reliable. Save yourself the trouble and find another company.

    Family Waterproofing Solutions
It's my first review on Angie's List! I can't say enough wonderful things about Family Waterproofing Solutions in Evergreen Park. I called them when I had water in my basement in September. From the moment I called and spoke with Alaina in the office to when John Doig arrived at my house, I was met with nothing but the utmost in professionalism, appointment confirmation, punctuality and service ABOVE AND BEYOND:) What stood out most was that John Doig took the time to assess my situation and problem solve. It was a multi step situation. This was the complete opposite of the other "big name" companies who came out with a goal to sell me a complete system without really knowing the origin of the problem! John has been out to my house 2 times. At this point it seems to be a gutter/downspout issue. I have already referred them to a teacher I work with. Thank you Family Waterproofing!

    The Scottish Plumber
I live in a Chicago bungalow notorious for basement floods with heavy rains. After about four floods I did some in depth research on how to permanently fix the problem without tearing my basement apart. Some homeowners have the check valve/pump installed just outside the home. However I didn't want a manhole cover in front of the house and about $100 annually to service. I ended up with a Tramco flood control system with a lift station which was installed in the floor of my basement so no worries about the system freezing. I also had the sewer lined from my house out to the street. Yes it was expensive but I haven't had a drop of water in 5 years. VERY happy with the work and results. No more panic attacks every time it rains.

    American Crawlspace & Basement Corp
The crew arrived on time and started work immediately on my CRAWL space. The space was extremely difficult to work because of the limited height and access point. My old vapor barrier and some temporary wooden flooring was removed, The space was leveled, a new vapor barrier installed and a concrete flooring pumped in and leveled. The crew worked in an extremely restricted and confined area and executed the job perfectly. Upon completion, the professional crew cleaned the job site.

Work was done as scheduled. No heavy rains this summer, but I am assuming that the repairs will solve the problem of water coming into the basement. Phone calls from office to tell me when repairs would be made and when to expect the person who would do so. Very efficient. The 3 other companies who came to give me estimates for the problem advocated a much more expensive solution than just repairing the cracks.
