  • Currently, I am the proud mom to 5 rabbits, many of whom came from the wonderful folks at Provider name locked. . Located in Skokie, Provider name locked. has a passion for helping abandoned and abused rabbits and cats -- plus the occasional cat, duck or chicken, too. The staff is extremely knowledgable about bunnies and can advise adopters on routine care, vet referrals, behavioral tics, etc. Provider name locked. also sells boxes of creme de la creme Oxbow Provider name locked. Hay at a steal. All bunnies adopted from the shelter are spayed/neutered, litterbox-trained, vet-checked and very well-socialized. And they all come with awesome names, too -- our current three Provider name locked. rescues are named Provider name locked. , Provider name locked. and Dagwood :) Provider name locked. 's dedication to animals doesn't stop at adoptions. They offer many other services as well, such as nail trims, grooming, educational seminars hosted by local vets, INCREDIBLY creative tri-monthly "Spa Di Da Day" photoshoots, bunny boarding, and "speed dating" to help lonely single bunnies find a compatible bunny friend. There is just so much love in this small shelter, and my husband and I are so happy to be a part of it.

  • Very well.

They took great care of our rabbit during boarding.

When we were looking to adopt, the staff could tell us about the animsls' personalities in great detail. That's because the animals aren't locked away in cages all day. They're out in varous rooms and have steady interaction with staff and volunteers.

  • Provider name locked. specializes in rabbits and cats, although they do have some dogs in foster care, and have been known to take in the occasional duck or chicken!  The rabbits are kept in clean cages, get plenty of hay, and get playtime in a large pen every day.  The cats are usually free to roam the large room (unless confined for medical reasons) and can often be seen snoozing contentedly in the sunny windows.  All of the staff and volunteers are wonderful - they are very interested in the welfare of their charges, but don't come across as 'snobby' like some adoption groups. You will have to fill out some paperwork and prove that you are allowed to have a pet where you live, but it doesn't feel like an inquisition or anything - they just want to know that you know what you are getting in to and are going about things properly.  The adoption contract also specifies that if for any reason you can't keep the animal you can bring it back to the shelter,

Your experience with them doesn't end at adoption - there are regular activities throughout the year where the Provider name locked. community comes together.   They do quarterly 'Spa-Di-Dah' days where pet owners can bring in cats, rabbits, or other small pets for grooming, nail trims, ear cleaning, pet massages, and 'glamour' theme photos.  All the work is done by the volunteers  with funds going to support the shelter, and I always enjoyed them as a Provider name locked. to hang out with other "bunny people".  Provider name locked. Greetis is the rabbit adoption coordinator, and she is amazing.  She takes the theme photos, and they are hilarious - bunnies at the beach, ShakesBun, Bunzilla, Vampire Bunnies, etc.  There is a holiday party featuring pet photos with Provider name locked. (who was very polite about the 3 rats playing in his beard last year),  the 'Gimme Shelter' walk for the dog people every June (where the shelter manager let people throw pies at him for a donation), and even a fund-raiser at a tattoo and piercing Provider name locked. !

Provider name locked. also coordinates 'Bunny dating" - if you have a single bunny and are looking for a companion for them, she will arrange for supervised meetings to see if they get along and can advise you on 'bonding' them and how best to look out for them.   And when my  Provider name locked. died recently after a long illness,  some of the Provider name locked. people were at the vet practice when it happened.  They sent sympathy cards and when I came over to donate her unused supplies they made sure that I took some time for a little "bunny therapy" - found me a cheerful little fellow to play with for a bit and then a tiny girl-Provider name locked. who likes snuggles.

They  offer Bunny Boarding in a cat-free room upstairs, where your Provider name locked. can have a quiet stay with great care and regular playtime when you are out of town.  It's a great option, and supports a great cause.  They have a Pet Food Pantry, where people on fixed- or low-incomes can get the help that can enable them to keep their beloved pets when things get tight.

I've always had the most amazing experiences with Provider name locked. , and really can't say enough wonderful things about them.
