  • We dropped it off and were told that a repair technician would be arriving the following day from Atlanta - we were in luck! We called and NEVER heard back. Even went by and were told it would take longer. My daughter returned to Africa without her camera. I waited another week and went by. I was given my camera - unrepaired - and told that the technician had said both the lens and the camera body had to be sent directly to Nikon. They had the camera the entire time! Worse thing about it - no apology. Just a "yeah well sorry."

  • We brought the camera to the store, and were told someone from their Atlanta service repair office would be there the following day - lucky right? No. We kept checking back and calling. We were told they were waiting for a part to come in. Continued to check back. When I went in a month later, they handed me the camera - "no charge." What?! Their diagnosis was that the memory card wasn't the required 8 cb size. That actually wasn't the problem - we had tried about 4 different cards hoping that the "error" message was linked to a card problem. The card that was in the camera wasn't the original 8 card. Also, what happened to the "waiting for a part" to come in? The lens was also having difficulties, so I reminded them that we had brought it in for that as well. "You have to send it to that company. We don't repair those here." What?! You've had my camera for a month and never mentioned that when we called or when we came by, much less when we dropped it off?! Their location is convenient but I would NEVER go there.

  • They have been very helpful whenever I went into the store. They have showed me how to take pictures off my Ipad and transfer the images to their printers. If you purchase a camera from them they will let you take the classes for free

  • The overall experience was excellent. They tell you right off the bat what they can and can't do. They take your request and give you a time frame for when it will be ready and it is ready at that time. They are honest about the equipment they have and if they can honor your requests. They do a lot of restoration on portraits right there. They are very good and do what they say they will do. The quality of work is great and that is probably why they are still open today. They would not survive without the quality of work they give. With the economy today you have to be able to give and take, but still have quality behind it. You never know what tomorrow will bring and you are at the mercy of your customers.
  • I took in an almost 5 year old 50" Samsung projection TV. A  $50.00 diagnosis fee led the technician to discover a lamp bulb had burned out after 6447 hours of use. The part with tax was $157.73 and SOUTHERN PHOTO let my diagnosis fee serve as labor cost.
My total was $207.73, a great deal less than a new TV would be.
They helped unload and load the TV to my car.
I have used this company for camera repair within the past year. I found them on Angie's List under TV repair which I didn't know they did. I knew immediately they were the right choice.
I went with my father to Southern Photo when I was a child. Dad said this was the place to take a camera for repair. I am 61 now but this company is still around and still the place to go.
    Good people!

  • I had to photograph a high school reunion in April and I didn't realize until the day before the event that the cable release for my camera wasn't working. I took it to Camera World and someone was able to look at it right away and determine that the problem was with the input on the chord and not the camera itself. The input tip on the end of the cord had gone bad after years of use. I asked the repairman how much it would cost me for a new chord and he said I wouldn't need one. He went into the back of the store and found a replacement part and attached it right away. When I asked him how much I owed him for the part and the service, he said I only needed to pay $5 for the part and that the service was free! I have since gone back for other camera questions and I have found that every worker in there REALLY knows cameras! Now I won't go anywhere else for camera equipment, repairs or film.
