Piano Moving reviews in Boston

  • This was my second time using Bushell Piano Movers, and it went just as smoothly as my first experience did. I submitted a quote online and was called back within 24 hours. The two gentlemen who moved the piano (a Baldwin console) were on time and made quick (but careful) work moving the piano out of my apartment and into my new house. Payment was exactly what the initial quote had been. Very satisfied (again). Thank you!

  • It was okay! We had a little bit of a problem, but we got it worked out in the end.
What happen was, they did some damage to the piano. When I called them about it originally, they kind of seemed like they weren?t inclined to cover it. But then I got a more experienced person on the phone. Because they were trying to tell that initially I should have been charged more money, but wasn?t because my place is on the third floor.

The person who originally took my order was supposed to charge me more for it being on the third floor. I said, well the fact that you didn?t charge me is really sort of your issue and not mine, because I told them where they were bringing the piano. So, you just need to eat that cost!

So basically, what they were trying to do is make it so that they were charging me more in the front, and that way they didn?t have to pay anything out on the back end for damaging the piano. So, it ended up being washed, because they agreed to reimburse the cost of getting the piano repaired and eliminated the charge of going to the third floor.
So, it ended up working just fine in the end.

The guys who came and did the work were decent. It was not them that I had the problem with, it was someone in management and that was a low-level person anyway. But, then we sorted it out. They were on time.

  • Alex and Sherman showed up within the time window and were AMAZING. Personable, efficient, and super-helpful. Alex in particular really knew what he was doing. They even took apart our bed frame (that we thought might fit up the stairs but turns out wouldn't) and put it back together again. If I need to move anything ever again, I'm hiring these guys in a HEARTBEAT.

  • The workers were all very personable and helpful, but the work was unprofessional in that they spent way too long trying to get a piano through a space it did not fit and they did not completely move all items from third to first. Having used this company before with very satisfactory results, we were very disappointed this time.

  • I can't even begin to describe what a wonderful experience I had with these gentleman.
I live on the third floor of a three family converted condo building.  I have a back deck but there are no stairs, and I have desperately needed my patio door replaced,  I hired a contractor to do it this summer, and after letting it sit for two months he told me he couldn't get it up to my deck and that it would cost $2,800 to get a crane to do it.  After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I told him no thank you and that I'd find someone else.
I started looking online and thought hmmm, maybe a piano mover could do it.  I found A Plus Mt. Auburn Piano Movers and figured hey, why not see what they have to say.  I called and got someone on the phone the first time - no messages back and forth.  I spoke to Joe and explained my situation.  He was so friendly and helpful, and asked a bunch of questions that made it evident he's done a lot of this before and he knows what he 's doing.  Even better, he said he could take care of it no problem and offered to come out that week.  Oh, and for $500.
They came out promptly on the morning they promised, hoisted the door up (not damaging any of the trees that were in the way which was impressive!), and walked it back and lowered it onto my deck for me.  The whole process took less than 30 minutes.  When I asked what the final cost was, he said $500.  Finally, a company that doesn't quote low just to get business and then up the charge once the work is complete.
This door situation has been a nightmare the past two months and this team just came in and made my day.  I still can't get over how easy it was to talk to them, schedule an appointment, and have them actually come out and do a fantastic job.  I seriously wanted to hug these guys when they were done.  I would highly recommend to anyone needing any type of moving or hoisting service.

  • They were on time both times. They were also very friendly, helpful, and professional. We did 95% of the packing and they helped us when we were not entirely ready on the day of the move. No breakage or damage, and they were very helpful in asking questions and following through. Also helped assemble dining room table and platform beds. Dave was very enthusiastic when he heard where we were moving and provided us with some good advice and pointers to restaurants, attractions, etc.
The cost was essentially as quoted, in line with other quotes that we received from other highly-rated Angie's List movers. We went with Roadrunner because we liked how they planned to wrap the furniture and keep it wrapped while in storage, and their description of how they moved the piano (which we observed--they moved it the way piano specialists do, strapped to a special piano dolly).

  • I had contacted a few piano moving companies and had received quotes that were a little higher than I was willing to pay for this piano, which doesn't require any particularly special handling. Allegro was a little bit difficult to get in contact with at first - I requested a quote through their web site and did not hear back - but once I got Victor on the phone he quickly provided me with an extremely competitive quote. He was also able to schedule my move on short notice, slightly rearranging his schedule to accommodate my move.
Victor had suggested that he would be able to arrive at my mother's house sometime between 10:00 and 11:00 in the morning, and would arrive at my house about an hour after leaving. At about 10:15 my mother called me to say that the movers (who she says were very courteous) had just closed up the truck and driven away. At 11:10, the truck arrived at my house. The movers took a quick look at the stairs leading to my front door - there are about 8 steps up, then a turn followed by 3 more steps - and devised a clever way of running their ramp from the lift on their truck up to the landing where the steps turn. They had the piano in the house in no time, positioned it against the wall, and were on their way.

  • They kept us informed 100% of the time.  Where they were, when pick-up was, and when they would arrive.  They also had a 3 man crew, which was great (other places said they would only send 2).

  • From my initial phone call, to the company's follow-up by e-mail and phone to confirm the move, to the actual move, Allston Piano Movers' staff were professional, prompt, careful, and efficient. Love them! And would definitely use them again.

  • They did an excellent job. They removed the attic window from its frame and reinstalled it when done. They didn't damage the tree below attic window. They actually carried the piano over some obstacles and some cracked floor boards in the unfinished part of the attic to get to the window. I was very pleased with the quality of their work, with the speed with which they did it, and of course their rapid response to my telephone request. I would definitely use them again.
