  • There were some bracelets, a diamond-faced watch, a necklace with rather large stones in it that I took to get appraised.  The gemologist thought he knew about the jewelry I had brought in.  However, I spoke with the jeweler who actually created the piece I had taken to him.  The evaluation of the gemologist was completely off base and not accurate at all.  We went through each piece of jewelry and they talked me into what I should get melted down.  There reasoning was that since I wasn't really wearing it, that I may as well get some money out of it.  The amount of money I received wasn't even what I had paid for the watch.  They told me that my insurance company did not like to have appraisals on jewelry worth less than $1,000 (which speaking to my insurance company later was not true).  Because of that they agreed to appraise two different groups of jewelry of stuff that was and was not worth appraising.  They claimed they did this to save me money.  After dividing the jewelry between the appraisal and melting group, he slid it off the table as fast as he could and ran around the corner with it and said 'I've got to get it to the melting guy quick before the price of gold changes.'  Now, everyone knows the price of gold can change, but not that fast.  They gave me a receipt for 'scrap gold' with no weight on it.  I lost all the stones that were in each piece, and didn't get paid of them.  They claimed to have paid me for them, but there is no record of it.  I was trying to be nice with them, and they would talk me out of each concern I had.  I had sent them certified letters to make sure they got them, but they kept ignoring me.  I wrote the whole thing out to the BBB, and they took the claim.  There was correspondence back and forth, but the jeweler lied each time and I would call them out for each of them.  However, no one cared that they lied.  We went to mediation, and they got them to agree to replace the stones but again no one put them in writing.  The next thing I know there is a letter saying that he's refusing to replace the stones.  I mentioned the mediation agreement, but I couldn't use that agreement because the meeting was in private.  I requested arbitration, which was denied.  They said my next step would be small claims court.  I have since decided to drop it because my health has been in decline and I want to get better.

  • The owner then closed his store and moved.  I had to fill out a police report to find him.  The police found him and they spoke to him. He said he had returned all the merchandise back to the owners.  I had troubles finding him after that.  Then I saw a news story about his jewelry store and that is how I found him.  I went in and I saw one of my jewelry pieces on display. I called the police and they confiscated the ring.   I am currently in the process of litigation to get my rings back. I am in hopes of finding the individuals who purchased my 2 additional pieces.

  • My experience with Provider name locked. Jewelers was excellent. The spent several hours with me and we came up with a design that they priced for me. I was very happy with the design and with the price. It was $1000 less than the other two jewelers I worked with. Unfortunately, my wife fell in love with the design of the other jeweler and that is why we did not go with Provider name locked. . However,  I plan to go to them in the future when I want to give my wife or daughters custom jewelery.
