Auto Body Repair reviews in Austin

A1 Austin Dent Man Mobile Auto Body Repair
JJ provided the lowest bid / quote. When I read other reviews online and asked him for more details on how he will be performing the repair, he went into a rant about are you asking me to explain how I do my job to you?. This was the first red light for me and I decided to check more reviews online. Next day he checked in to ask when we can meet for him to work on my car in any parking lot. When I did not reply to his texts, he called again to say he has a business to run and Im wasting his time, and dont call his business again.

    FIX-A-DENT
I've used Fix-A-Dent's services on two occasions and was delighted with the results both times. They are very customer-oriented and do great work for MUCH less than other body shops I've been to. In one case, they suggested I could save money by purchasing a body part on Amazon and they would install it for me. In another case, they quoted me three optional price levels for a dent/scratch repair so I could choose my own cost/benefit result depending on how the final appearance would look. They are really honest and dependable. I highly recommend them.

    Vintage Autobody
Do not use Vintage if you are wanting your car back in any reasonable amount of time. Vintage had my car for 76 days and returned it with the repairs still incomplete. Every step of the way, Vintage was dishonest about the state of my vehicle and the time remaining of repairs. I selected Vintage over other shops because they said they were less busy than average and would be able to get started on my car right away, but they moved at a glacial pace. See attached picture of my vehicle after 30 days of being at Vintage. It still hasn't even been fully disassembled at this point! It does not take 30 days to do a teardown. The repair actually took so long that the insurance refused to pay for the rental because they said it was too long for the scope of work that was being done. Luckily the insurance finally paid the rental, but it was a huge hassle. When the car was returned, the sunroof was still broken even though I mentioned that when I dropped my car off. I had to get the dealer to fix it. Vintage also broke the driver and passenger seats while they repaired the active head restraint in the headrest. It was a whole new nightmare getting the insurance to pay for that one. Overall, this was one of the most disasterous experiences I have ever seen as a customer. I talked to Rob the owner a couple times during the repair and he was totally unapologetic and unwilling to compromise on price or any other kind of compensation for the awful experience. Do not take your car here.

    AMM Collision Center
Horrendous. Beware, beware, beware of the AMM shop on Burnet. I don't know about the other shops, but the personnel at the Burnet shop will lie directly to your face, will cheat by using low quality products rather than the OEM parts that came with the replacements and will steal any and everything in your car. The car was delivered to the shop on Feb 16th. We had to return it three different times with an insurance agent in tow in order to get the repairs even remotely done correctly. We had a full belt and tension system in the car that had been gotten from a salvage yard and those parts disappeared. We ended up having to pay for the belt and tension system from another shop. They broke the moon roof control console and denied having ever been inside the car even though there was a cup with the company's name on it inside and the radio station had been changed from the usual channel. The back fender had to be replaced. When they removed it, they broke the wires for the backup system but denied that they did it. They didn't fix it and we had to pay a different shop to fix that damage. The fender inner liner came with all the OEM parts needed to replace it properly. Instead, they used whatever they could find around the shop to install the liner. We found the proper parts strewn inside the car. They broke off some interior trim and stuck it back on with duck tape, then denied that they even had duct tape in the shop. The list goes on and on. The sunroof no longer works but it did at the time it was dropped off at the shop after the accident. These people will lie, cheat and steal from you without a second thought and will deny that they had anything to do with any of the problems that arose AFTER their supposed repair work.

    TEREX AUTO BODY & PAINT
My car was hit in a parking lot. The lady left me note and called her insurance company. I was told to take my car here. They took care of the car promptly and did a nice job however, they asked me to pay her $500 deductible to take the car. It was agreed that I would pay and when they collected money from her they would refund my card. When she called to pay they told her "It's all taken care of". She now refuses to pay and I am out $500 for parking my car outside of my house. Come to find out she knows people who work there. Complete SCAM ARTISTS!!!

WHITAKERS Auto Body & Paint - Lakeway
I remembered the cost because another company said it would be $3000. A plus, Whitakers are A plus.? Quality was great.? Responsiveness was good.? Punctuality was fine.? Just give them A's across the board.

    DENTWORKS OF AUSTIN
2 body shops gave me estimates to take off the old fender, paint a new fender and install it ... over $1500. Dentworks sanded down the scratch, used filler for the scratch, then blended the paint out to about a basketball sized area. I can't even see where the work was done. In 3 hours instead of 3-5 days quoted by the body shops. For about $300 ... and I have my original Mercedes fender instead of a substandard part. I Highly Recommend Dentworks of Austin and will use them again when the need arises.

    JEFF'S AUTO BODY REPAIR
I have done business with Jeff's for more than a decade and have referred a lot of business to them over the years. None of that history matters at Jeff's and that's something you should be VERY concerned about. It means that when you hit a snag with these guys, it doesn't matter to them one bit the extent to which you've been a loyal customer. Case in point: They did some work on my Audi after it was hit on the driver's side door in a parking lot. Ultimately, they had to replace the door. As I learned later from my car dealership's service department, when Jeff's did the work they failed to reconnect several connections in the door, resulting in my keyless entry not working. It ended up costing me a little over a hundred bucks to have the dealership figure this issue out and correct it. I asked Jeff's to reimburse me for what I had to pay the dealership to fix the problem. My initial contact was the unnamed woman who answered the phone. She told me, in an incredibly rude and condescending way, that they would not reimburse me for the work. After getting in contact with Jeff, he told me "of course" he would reimburse the cost, confirmed my mailing address and thanked for my many years business. After several weeks passed and at least 1 more promise to send payment, Jeff told me that I needed to drive across town to the shop in order to receive payment. I declined (it's about a 30 minute drive for me) and again asked him to simply drop the payment in the mail (and even offered to pay the postage). Two more months have passed and I still haven't received anything from these guys. I know the real issue is that the unnamed woman (who I've had a previously negative expereince with) won't let him send a check. I'm a lawyer and could easily sue these guys and get my money back, but I've decided that it and they are just not worth the effort. Instead, I want to make sure that everyone knows what kind of business Jeff's really is. If everything goes smoothly, they're decent, but if you have a problem of any sort and the unnamed woman gets involved, rest assured that Jeff will do whatever she wants him to do. So, considered yourself duly warned and seriously think about taking your business to another body shop.
