  • I dealt with Terry who went over the list of deficiencies that the boat had, a 17' deepand quot;Vand quot; hull craft. We needed the boat in a month for some seasonal work. Terry ensured that all issues were remedied, which included tuning the engine, fixing/repllacing broken or missing parts.
The boat was returned to us in a timely manner and it ran better than I can remember it running in a couple of years.

  • Their price was the most favorable (lowest) and their delivery time window was immediate.    I was impressed by the facts that the company (1) had been in business forever, (2) was family owned, (3) had actually built the dock and my slip over 25 years ago, and (4) used heavy timbers as opposed to aluminum beams.  Also, (5) the point was made that being local and close by, needed parts or repairs would always be immediately available.   From the very beginning there were problems.    The two motors squealed and screeched so loudly earplugs could be useful when operating the lift.  Custom tried but was unable to correct this, even after replacing motors.   Next the cradle and bunk system began to fall apart.  “Hurricane clips” (designed to hold down roof rafters) used in constructing my lift proved inadequate and the cradle-bunk system had to be rebuilt.  Three re-buildings failed to prove satisfactory and my son at last re-built the lift and got it to work satisfactorily.   Last month one of the engines burnt up (no fault of Custom’s) and needed replacement.  Relying on the sales-point that replacement parts would always be immediately available, I requested and purchased a replacement motor.  Because the new motor was wired entirely differently from the original motor and would not operate with the original wiring harness, it took a master electrician almost 5 hours to get the new motor compatible with the original installation.   I have found the people at Custom to be most pleasant and consider them to be good people.  But I could never recommend their lifts to anyone.

  • I am very dissapointed with this compay. Initially i was very impressed with him and he was very nice on the phone for the initial meeting. I arranged for them to come to the house to make a cover for me. He did come to the house on the designated date but was too early for me to make it there I had meetings in the morning he was to be at the house at 1230 PM. When we did get in touch he said that he would come the following day. I got a call the day he was to come to the house to measure the boat (second meeting that he asked for) and he told me it was too far for him and he would not make any money on the job, yet on his web page he says he services St. Pete, and Venice which is much further than Palmetto by 30 minutes. His work may be great but his "I don't care attititude" when I called him back to say how dissapointed i was that he was not going to do the job would not allow me to recommend this service provider to anyone. Use Caution when deciding to use this company!

  • It had a good gas start under the water. It was near the beach as part of the lake. It had a nice shop where I could buy everything; it was a complete marine shop. They didn't have the restaurant and beach house and that was the only drawback about them. I would use them in the future.

  • Complete disaster. Left me with two destroyed bathrooms, a roof that leaked, foundation masonry not completed, no drywall. Tommy West and his father, Johnny West have a non-registered "company" called LEC Construction, and they rip off people in north Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina.

  • McGinnis garage replaced the engine on a 21' Seamaster Boat, which I asked them to do at their recommendation. I subsequently towed the boat to Atlanta, where I had moved. When I used the boat the first time, the new engine blew a head gasket. Trent, the manager, offered to send me a check for the repair in Atlanta. I had the repair done, and they refused to pay. The owner refused to speak with me, saying the warranty is not valid in other states (I've seen no evidence that this is the case).

  • WE HAVE USED NORTH GEORGIA MARINE FOR AT LEAST THE PAST TWENTY YEARS. WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK, EVEN IF THE SPEED OF THE REPAIR IS NOT THE FASTEST. THINGS ALWAYS GO WRONG, WHEN WE NEEDED IT REPAIRED, YESTERDAY. THEY DO REPAIRS IN A TIMELY MANNER.

  • The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.  I had had my boat other places and these guys really understood the problem and did the job RIGHT!!

  • Overall the service provider was extremely pleasant to work with and knowledgeable. I felt as if I were working with an honest boat service provider. I highly recommend.
