  • I have a long, sloping driveway, one-half paved and one-half gravel. Where the two meet, the gravel would quickly wear thin, making it bumpy for cars to go over. The company told me that by adding approximately a three-foot strip of paving on the upslope, that things would smooth out. They didn't. They needed to extend the paving farther to a flat part of the driveway, so it would blend better with the gravel.
When I called and tried to explain this to them, the company refused to return my calls or rectify their work.

  • Provider name locked. responded to our call immediately....Came out was paid to do a patch ..Very Poorly done!!..We called the office many times ..No response from Provider name locked. ( He was in a very noisy area)....After many texts and bad conversations he told us to get someone else to fix the job ..He was not at fault and will not come out again...We disputed the charges and hope that this report will help someone else's pain!!!..We would NOT use them again and are sad this is happening to us!

  • The experience of getting this concrete sidewalk installed was one of the most frustrating, unpleasant, and disappointing experiences we have had with any type of contractor in the 7-1/2 years we have owned this home. Several days into the job, I stated to my husband that I felt I would need to do an Angie's List review. At the end of the job, before I saw the final product, Mr. Provider name locked. asked me if I would write a review. His lawyer had told him that he needed some A+ reviews to make up for the bad ones on Angie's List. I take the responsibility for having hired this man, as I did not vet him on Angie's List prior to contacting him.
The first red flag I ignored was their initial call to me. I had emailed from their website requesting an estimate and I got a call the next day saying they could come because they had nothing else to do. As backed up as other concrete contractors are because of the weather this winter and spring, I found this very odd.
Another red flag we ignored was at the beginning of the estimate process. Mr. Provider name locked. was starting to measure the space and I told him that the previous contractor had measured it as 70' long. Mr. Provider name locked. accepted that number as final and did not re-measure for himself.
The day of the estimate, I paid a 50% deposit to Mr. Provider name locked. and he asked that the check be made out to him personally.  I received a phone call from a check Provider name locked. company to confirm I had written the check. I found this most unusual. Also, Mr. Provider name locked. required that we pay the concrete supplier directly. This seemed to be another red flag. If he is a concrete contractor, why did he not have an account? Would they not take his check?  Again, my husband and I have agreed that the responsibility is ours for not halting the project as these red flags appeared.
We wanted a concrete sidewalk, stained brick-red, that would go from the driveway to the front door patio and have curves instead of corners. We now have an unevenly colored sidewalk of various shades of pink and unstained concrete; the color is only on the top, not all the way through; there is a strange corner where there should have been a straight line or curve, the sidewalk is not sealed, and a huge mess was left behind. And I had to draw pictures to finally get one of Mr. Provider name locked. 's workers to understand that I did not want straight lines, I wanted curves.
While the concrete was being poured, it was splashed on a decades-old rhododendron, burning some of the leaves. Also, the concrete truck driver damaged the lawn at the foot of the driveway and completely took out a bush at the top. No one come to alert us of any problems and we found the gashes and dead bush the next day.
No attempts were made to ameliorate the holes left behind when the framing for the sidewalk was removed. We had shown the contractor where we wanted the dirt that was dug up to be placed. When he decided enough dirt was there, he left the rest of it lying on grass next to where the sidewalk was being dug without so much as a comment to us. Neither the contractor or his workers showed up before 10 or 11 each day, and they frequently wanted to work into the evening, even though we stated from the beginning that we wanted work to be done during regular work hours. I came home from errands on a Saturday morning to find two men digging and the contractor sitting and smoking in one of our lawn chairs. I expressed yet again that we preferred work to be done on work days during work hours. I also asked that any smoking be done over by the bottom of our driveway so that we could open the windows of our home. The contractor behaved as though I had purposely offended him and he had his men pick up and leave without saying a word. I never knew from day-to-day what time they were planning to return the following morning because even if they mentioned a time, they did not show up at that time.
Additionally, Mr. Provider name locked. 's behavior and statements were offensive and unpleasant for us to hear. In general, I do not want to know the political, theological, and gender opinions of contractors I hire. Mr. Provider name locked. is quite free with his thoughts. Some customers may agree with him 100%. I found a number of his statements repugnant. I especially did not appreciate his attitude toward or treatment of women. He was disrespectful to his wife in front of us, and literally screamed at a woman named Provider name locked. on the phone who he then hung up on. This painful interaction was done within 5' of our open front door and porch. I share this information to explain why we found it unpleasant to have Mr. Provider name locked. on the premises. He did not pick up on my attempts to end such conversations and even tried to start talking about race wars in front of my neighbors 3 very young children.
After numerous days of digging out the sidewalk, the concrete was finally poured on Monday of the 2nd week. But that didn't begin until 4 pm, which put Mr. Provider name locked. , his wife and 2 workers once again working right outside our door until sundown. At the time they finished the sidewalk, it appeared beautiful and was exactly the color we wanted.  At that time we told Mr. Provider name locked. we were pleased. The next day, however, when we saw the sidewalk after they had removed the forms and left, we were shocked to see the color lying on top of the sidewalk. I had asked Mr. Provider name locked. about the white patches I had noticed the night before and he told me that the concrete was still absorbing the color. This has proven to be untrue as the color has continued to fade and the white spots have remained right where they were when the work was finished.
Before leaving on that last morning, Mr. Provider name locked. informed me the sidewalk would need to be sealed within 3 days. When I asked if he was going to do it, his response was that I had not asked him to. I replied that I had not known it needed to be done, and he walked off. I am astonished that he did not discuss with us that the color would not be throughout the concrete, that they would not remediate any damage to the lawn, or that concrete needed to be sealed. He was the contractor, I was the customer. He should not have assumed knowledge on my part for a business he is supposed to be an expert in. I should not have trusted so easily in someone who is such a fast talker and did not answer all my concerns during the estimate. Just promises that he would "take care of everything."
We have not called Mr. Provider name locked. to ask him to return and make things right. We do not trust him and do not want the stress of having him here again. We also do not want to listen to him pontificate, or blame us for the problems, as he freely blamed other customers for past problems.
One final note: I want to commend Mr. Provider name locked. 's workers. Provider name locked. , the lead worker was especially helpful and polite and extraordinarily patient with his co-worker. I would not mind having Provider name locked. return, but will never do business with Mr. Provider name locked. again. I feel rather certain that Mr. Provider name locked. will have many reasons why this poorly constructed sidewalk is my fault. All I can say is that I did not dig the path, pour the concrete, or apply the stain. I don't know how, which is why I hired Mr. Provider name locked. . And I have regretted that ever since. Please judge for yourself with the photos.
