  • They gave me an really big estimate, that was not necessary. All but the inspection results, was really good. My brother looked at the same thing a week later, and it already had an slew. He made an chimney top. It only cost us five hundred dollars to do the whole thing. That is a big difference. I am sure that worked needed to be done, it would have been fine. The only thing I would say about them, is get a second opinion. Get a second company to give an second opinion. That was fine.

  • Wow! We are so impressed with this company! So professional and knew EXACTLY what they were doing. The owner was so kind and easy to work with, he explained everything. THe and the crew worked so hard (through the SNOW!) for 3 days to get the job done and they were so easy to have around. They were so tidy with their work.   • The project was an unmitigated disaster. We had a full proposal done with a representative coming to our home and reviewing our needs and taking full specifications, etc. We were told the project would take 3 days (work a full day Wednesday, partial day Thursday with inspection that afternoon, and finish Friday) and cost $7,200. We were also told our entire fireplace would be completely sealed in so none of the existing fireplace odor or chemicals could leak out (my wife and young daughter are chemically sensitive and this was the entire impetus for the project). I paid a deposit of just over $5,500 and we agreed to move forward. The team showed up 3 hours late on Wednesday, didn't come at all on Thursday, came back on Friday and then couldn't get the inspection until the following Monday - leaving our entire fireplace open (as they had removed the flue and ash-catch) and our whole house smelling of creosote and smoke for the weekend. Then, they failed the inspection on Monday. They then didn't come back out to resolve the issues from the first inspection until Thursday at which point they opened the box of the final piece of the fireplace surround for the first time only to find it damaged. They then waited until the following Tuesday to order a new one, which they assured me they would overnight - but didn't until I got extremely firm with my service rep and they got it there on Friday with another inspection scheduled for that day. Which they again failed. They finally passed the following Monday and came to seal up the fireplace on Tuesday, which, lo and behold, they can't do because of the design of the fireplace they recommended for exactly that purpose. They also had a high-chemical and high-odor sealer for the spaces they could do and assured me that they would be happy to come back and seal the surround to the best of their ability (not fully, mind you) with a sealer of my choosing. They also said a reduced price would be offered as compensation for my trouble and accepted a final check of $1,000 (bringing the total payment to just over $6,500). After finding an appropriate sealer I reached out to the company to finish the project and even offered to pay more for a new surround to make sealing it easier and more efficient, at which point I was assured they're happy to help, will charge me cost for the parts and work to complete the job to our satisfaction. However, I was informed the next day that in order to continue working, I would need to remit the full, contracted price (not the discounted price as accepted by the company representative) as well as pay for any and all additional work (i.e. the completion of the original job as contracted). So (very) long story short, I'm down 3 weeks, $6,500 and have a still as of yet unfinished job. Suffice it to say I would strongly recommend not using Wright's services.

  • had fireplace cleaned by another company and they pointed out cracked bricks that needed to be replaced and repaired. Estimate was $1,300. Danny looked at fireplace and gave me estimate of $800. Since he had done an excellent job of replacing my sidewalk a few months ago I had him do job. He showed up on day and at time he said he would . He only charged me $500 because he said it did not take as much time as he first thought. WOW. I have been hiring tradesmen for 45 years and this is first time I ever had work done for LESS than estimate. And he did a first class job.

  • WNC exceeded our expectation. We interviewed several roofers. While WNC Roofing was not the cheapest, they were the most thorough. The work was exceptional as well as the service. If you want a quality job, I highly recommend them.

  • The two guys who showed up spent maybe 30-40 minutes checking the roof. The one in charge initially told me the roof was old but had been very well installed and looked good. Then a few minutes later, he told me there was an area around the chimney that needs some work and that he could personally do that for me and charge way less than Christian Bros would charge. When they left, I received no paperwork, just a promise that he would call in a few days to schedule his return. The fact that he was selling himself against his employer was very disturbing to me. Eventually, I called the company and told the owner what had happened I asked him to send someone else out to take a second look at that area. While he was very nice and apologetic about the ethics of his workman, who was apparently a contractor, he declined to reinspect. Instead, he offered me a year's warranty on the roof to cover any repairs that might prove necessary. That was not my preference, but I got the warranty on paper and filed it away. In January, when the snow created ice dams, I had two small interior leaks around window frames (nowhere near the chimney) but did not call Christian Bros. Given my experience, I simply don't have much trust in this company and, in particular, did not want to be visited by that same local contractor. I am still looking around for someone I can have confidence in to take a look at the ice dams issue. Another company on your list, Joe's Roofing, made an appointment to come by, but never showed up or called. I would not recommend either company to others.

  • I recently had my roof replaced and my roofer told me my chimney was in bad shape and should be removed. I wanted a professional opinion, however, so I called around to a number of places on Angie's List that advertise chimney inspections. All of them quoted me $150 but they were booked up. Wright's quoted me $175 but were able to get someone over within a few days. 
    I was gone for the inspection but my fiancé was present and she informed me via text that the inspector was inspecting my unvented gas logs and not the chimney. I told her to have the inspector stop the service and not pay him until I could get it sorted out. I called up and spoke to a representative and she informed me that a chimney inspection actually costs $220 (or something in that ballpark). I told her I refused to pay for the gas log inspection and that I would be going elsewhere for the chimney inspection.
    About an hour later, I got a call back from Wright's and they offered to do the chimney inspection for $175 and not charge me for the gas log inspection because the person who originally gave me that quote was new and not familiar with the types of inspections they performed. I was stunned at their amazing customer service. They could have easily just let it go and not tried to make amends. But they were responsive, apologetic and eager to make things right. I was very, very impressed. This level of customer service, in my experience, is rare.
    And had everything else gone smoothly, as I assumed it would, I would have given Wright's "A" grades across the board. But unfortunately, after performing the chimney inspection, they never sent me the report! My fiancé had paid them on the spot after the correct inspection was completed but a report never followed! I waited almost a week and I called back. They said the report had gotten lost or misplaced as a result of a computer glitch. However, they were somehow able to resurrect it and email it to me. 
    So Wright's seems to be very well-intentioned. They are run by friendly people who are responsive and customer-oriented. But their execution needs improvement.

  • Unfortunately our chimneys started to leak during the remnants of Hurricane Patricia which caused a lot of flooding throughout North Carolina.  As one can imagine almost everyone we called was too busy to come out.  Many said January or February next year.  This was terribly disconcerting as we had 4 buckets that had to be put out just due to a single rain event. Yikes!!
    Michael Dillingham from Solid Rock Masonry was kind enough to offer to cover the main chimney that was leaking until he could get out to fix it. Needless to say I was thrilled! Unfortunately I wasn't here when he popped by to cover the chimney but my elderly mother was.  She said he was very thorough and inspected the chimneys inside and out and the truss' where the water was leaking.  Not to mention that he was extremely gracious, he didn't accept a dime when he put the cover on the chimney.  He just said to call him in a few days if we accepted his offer.  We did.  His office assistant was very helpful and she said that he would be by in the next few weeks.  Sure enough, as she mentioned he called us in advance and showed up when he said he would.  So let me recap quickly he was gracious, punctual and thorough.  Extremely happy so far. 
    When Michael and his assistant arrived they had to wait a little as there was still some ice on the roof from the freeze we had the night before.  In the interim he ground out an old (house is over a 100 years old) barbecue that he and my mom got to talking about when he first covered the chimney.  He actually turned it in to a barbecue from more of a spit, now we could actually get some use out of it! He really is a man of his word as my mother wasn't even around but he still did what he told her he would do.  Once the roof was dry enough they went up and about 5 hours later they had completely fixed the problem. Once they were done they cleaned every thing up meticulously and he thoroughly explained why the chimney was leaking.  His price was very fair considering it was he and his assistant and they worked for over 5 hours!

    After I paid him I remembered something else and asked him to take a look at something else.  Mortar that was rotting away on some bricks near the front of the house due to a gutter.  He happily took a look and he actually took the time to hammer in a gutter pin that was causing the issue.  Who does that in this day and age?  Talk about great service!  He even said that when he had a little extra mortar he would stop buy and fix the bricks for a reasonable price. After the wonderful service I received from everyone at Solid Rock Masonry I can say without question that they have a customer for life!
