    Roland J Down Service Experts
The furnace was making a terrible rattling noise intermittently when the blower motor turned on. I called them Saturday morning, and they said they would arrive between 4pm and 6pm that day. They called at 5pm and said they would be there in 30 minutes. They were right on schedule. By the time he got here, the blower had fixed itself and it was no longer making noise, so he could not easily diagnose. His only guess is that a mouse had gotten into the blower drum, and it subsequently left somehow. We have two cats, so I was surprised to hear about mice, but it's the only reasonable explanation. They charged $100 to come out and take a look, and they did not perform any work besides showing me what to look for next time it happens so I can repair it myself. $90 seems a bit steep, but it was my best option at the time. He was very professional and punctual, and I appreciated weekend hours.

    MYERS BROTHERS
I have used Myers Brothers for years now and could not be happier. Kevin is knowledgeable, conscientious, and honest (and no, I am not a relative of his!). It's a great feeling when you have someone come into your home to take care of important equipment who you can genuinely trust!

    Adams Heating & Cooling
Called and scheduled a routine furnace service and got a date for about 3 weeks later. On the day of the appointment, ( a Friday) their office called and said they could not make it and asked if they could come on Sunday morning instead. I said fine. Sunday morning comes and no tech shows up. I called the office, and find it closed, but an answering service connects me to the weekend duty tech. He calls me and says I'm not on the schedule, he is swamped with no heat calls and there's no way he's coming tpday just to do a routine service. He sounded very put out, and was rude and was basically very annoyed with me for calling, as if I was at fault somehow! Later on somebody from Adams calls and offers a free service for my trouble, so I call the office Monday morning and the person that offered me the free service is mysteriously "out for a few days." The office person offers to make an appointment, but was very iffy about whether the service would still be free. She would not definitely say the service would be free, and also sounded put out and annoyed. And on top fo that hey are still making me wait another week for the appointment. I think I will cancel, because at this point I have doubts about what kind of job they will be motivated to do for me on the "free" service, and I have a strong suspicion they will forget it was supposed to be free.

    Wilson Bros Heating Cooling Plumbing
In 2006, Tom the owner, came to give us an estimate on a new boiler and without us having to ask he showed us his license and proof of insurance, etc. That instilled us with confidence that he was honest and we weren't wrong. He installed a great boiler. He and his help are efficient and skilled at their job and also are just great guys! In 2013, I was selling my mother's house after she had died & I asked Tom to look at the old asbestos covered boiler. He gave me very good advice on the matter and his kindness and help were much appreciated at a very stressful time. In 2015, we had a new hot water tank installed. Again, a fantastic job. They do the the yearly check-up on our boiler. We just had them here in April (2018) for the boiler check-up and to give us an estimate on running a line from our boiler to a 4 season room. Thanks to Tom knowing his business, he installed the boiler allowing for future expansion. So, our boiler has room for the line to the sunroom should we decide to go that route. We also need air conditioning for the sunroom, (& for our dining room since we're no longer able to use our window unit in the dining room window). We were advised that another option would be a ductless mini-split system that could heat and cool the sunroom as well as provide cooling for the dining room and an upstairs bedroom in place of the window units we were using. I plan on doing business with this company for many years to come and highly recommend them. Our current cost for the cleaning and replacement of some parts was $165 including tax.

JAMES D WARREN & SON INC
I had a leak in one of the heating pipes in my basement. Another plumber in the area came by and went on about how big the job was going to be, tried to sell me a "red carpet preferred customer program", and walked away with $90 of my money for 20 minutes of work. The next day I called James D Warren and spoke with Jason. He made it over to my house that day and looked over the situation. He put me at ease telling me it was not that bad, showed me what to do in the event the pipe bursts or breaks, and had a detailed estimate emailed to me the next day. The following tuesday the plumber from James D Warren showed up on time, explained what he was going to do, and got to work. The plumber was an all around good guy and I trusted that the job would be done right. When the job was done everything looked great we powered up the heating system and bled the radiators. After that he was happy to answer any questions I had and put me at ease. All and All James D Warren was great to work with and I would highly recommend them for your plumbing needs. Their price was right as well.

Crisafulli Bros Plumbing & Heating Contractors Inc
Crisafelli plumber is a well known company in our area. I saw their trucks all over the neighborhood. When a family friend who was a plumber said they would not be available for days I called Crisafelli to see if they could help. I feel like I helped them make the quickest $90 they have ever made. They sent a tech to my home who was 2 hours late and smelled horribly of cigarette smoke. He looked at the pipe and stated, "this is going to be a major job!" He went outside to the truck to get me a quote. Not sure if he just wanted to make $90 for 20 minutes of looking at a pipe and not do any work or if their prices are just really high but I was quoted close to $2000 to repair a single leak in a copper pipe and replace an 8 foot section of pipe. I know the job would have required draining the heating system, do the work, and refill then bleed the system but the price just seemed outrageous for the work involved. Another local plumber came to the house for free, quoted me half that, and was willing to throw in additional work on our boiler while still being half the price. I am sure this company has technicians who do great work but their prices are just too high. I expect to pay for quality service but this just seemed like robbery.

    Wilson Bros Heating Cooling Plumbing
Their company policy says the home owner must be there in person for the first time. Since I live in MA and the house is in NY, that's impossible. They would not budge, so they leave the people that live there with no heat due to their "policy". Be forewarned when dealing with them.
