Wraparound deck transforms New Hampshire home

For homeowners looking to add more leisure space and curb appeal to their homes, a new or updated deck is a great home improvement option.

Angie’s List member Karen M. from Gilford, N.H., was able to achieve these very upgrades with her recent wraparound deck project.

When Karen and her family built their home six years ago, they had only a small set of stairs leading out of the home’s rear sliding-glass door -- no porch or deck to speak of. Karen and her family members hoped that someday they could add the deck of their dreams to their home.“We saved up over the years, and were finally able to build the deck we always wanted for our home!” she says.

The beautiful new structure is a 36-foot by 20-foot wraparound deck, constructed from Trex Select decking in the color "Saddle." The deck also includes some built-in seating, as well, which is perfect for hosting guests.

Since the completion of the project, Karen and her family have purchased a new grill and patio furniture, which should get plenty of use during summer cookouts out on the new deck. In addition, the family looks forward to adding more patio furniture over time and enjoying their new leisure space for years to come.

As an added bonus, the overhang of the deck extends over the basement-level entrance of the home, creating a nice sheltered entrance for the lower level.
