Window company credited for making old home energy efficient
Al and Nicolina Corrales' home is quieter and more efficient, thanks to Daystar Windows & Doors. "Daystar removed and disposed of 47 windows in our 1929 home and replaced them with energy-efficient windows," the Corraleses say.
"They thoroughly explained the windows we'd chosen and finished the job in two and a half days. We're very pleased with our windows, from efficiency to noise reduction. Daystar Windows & Doors is professional and did an awesome job."
No job is too big for First Choice/Affordable Movers, as they proved when giving Gertie Curcio a hand. "My older brother needed to move, and he's somewhat of a pack rat and has some unusual possessions," Curcio says.
"I called First Choice Movers because of their reviews on Angie's List, and they were very nice and understanding of the situation. They arrived [on time], worked very quickly, loaded everything with great care and put things exactly as my brother wanted in the new location. It went more smoothly than I could've imagined."
Classic Pro Contractors Inc. painted Bonnie May's house. "They prepped the home, then sanded, primed and spray-painted two coats on," May says. "They worked around the weather and completed the job in a week.
"They helped me choose colors that would complement and update an older home. They also took extra care to check for any places that needed a touch-up. I was very pleased with the work. When the job was finished, they'd done everything they'd promised - and more."
Cowell Roofing Co. replaced the 19-year-old roof on Becky Pearsall's home. "They replaced it with 30-year laminated shingles, which required installing plywood over the existing slats," Pearsall says.
"They also added additional vents, necessary metal and flashing. The staff was pleasant and responsive, and they answered my questions promptly and with sincere concern that I was satisfied. I was very happy with the entire process."
Rueben Cortez Interiors put up new drywall in much of Crystal Williams' home. "They installed drywall over old popcorn ceilings, removed and replaced a large opening to an upstairs loft with new drywall and covered the hallway wallpaper with texture so it would match the rest of the house," Williams says.
"Rueben and his crew are lovely, respectful and very good at what they do. They completed the work on time and didn't charge me for the hallway texture. They also disposed of blinds and left a 10-foot ladder so I could paint!"
Spic-&-Span Housekeeping lives up to its name when cleaning Neil Crannell's home every other week. "I enjoyed their prompt response and attention to detail in bringing the shine back to my showers, sinks and the rest of the house," Crannell says.
"They provided a guarantee and household cleaning tips. The pricing is reasonable and the employees do a thorough job."
Northwest Tree Specialists removed and pruned a few trees in Bonnie Blatz's yard. "They were professional, nice and on time," Blatz says. "Everything was done quickly and efficiently - they had the work down to a science!
"They did the cleanup and removal of all the debris, and the accounting side was handled equally as well. The neighbor across the street came over and got their business card."
Portland auto detailing
Doug Sparks' car looks like new after some work by Ace Car Reconditioning LLC. "They detailed my 1998 Toyota Avalon," Sparks says.
"The previous owner had done numerous paint touch-ups, which were poorly done and didn't match the original color. Ace Car Reconditioning removed the old touch-ups and applied new paint, dramatically improving the car's appearance."
