When I Preheat my Oven and I Open the Door the Smell of Gas so Strong it Burns your Eyes, but Stops when Heated Up.

3 pros!
Question by Tanyam: When I preheat my oven and I open the door the smell of gas so strong it burns your eyes, but stops when heated up.
Answered by LCD: Sounds to me like your burner might be sooted up or partly blocked by foor debris, causing incomplete combustion.
If you smell gas (more than just a very short burst second or two whiff when lighting the stove/oven), you should not use it until fixed. And if there is gas smell when off, pull out far enough to turn off the gas valve at the wall - or if unable to do that yourself call your gas company and they will generally do it for free.
IF a strong smell when stove is off call fire department.
