What types of jobs can a handyman perform?

"We see too many of what we call a 'Chuck in a truck,' who just show up and say that they're skilled to do this, but they have nothing to back it up." - Tom Molidor, The Upkeepers

What is a handyman? Depending on who you ask, you could get anything from a full service home improvement and remodeling company to a one-person operation that handles small jobs around the house.

Although there is no national standard for handymen and licensing may vary by state, there are still many ways to ensure that you're hiring a trained and qualified professional for your home improvement needs.

To help break down your options when it comes to hiring a handyman, we called upon Tom Molidor of The Upkeepers in Chicago. On this episode of the Chat with the Experts podcast, Molidor explains how to find the right handyman for your job, what tasks a handyman should be able to handle and shares a few projects many homeowners can handle on their own.
