What Does a Life Coach Do?

What Does a Life Coach Do?

Imagine what it would be like if you had somebody by your side whose focus was entirely on you when you were together. Imagine if that person had a genuine interest in who you are and what matters most in your life, listened carefully to what you had to say, and asked you questions that helped you look at your life, and yourself, in an entirely new way.

Imagine if that person believed in your abilities to accomplish whatever you set out to do, encouraged you to take action, and praised you when you did. Imagine if that person were non-judgmental and objective and had a wealth of experience, offering you valuable insights that expanded your view of what is possible. Imagine the things you could do with a person by your side whose goal was to help you achieve your goal.

Sound too good to be true? Well it’s not -- because this is what it’s like to work with a good life coach. Life coaches work with clients on a broad range of topics, seeking to help them improve the quality of their lives. Wellness issues such as weight loss and fitness are common as well as lifestyle transitions such as parenthood, empty nest, retirement and caregiving. Improvement of organizational skills and responsible spending habits have become popular topics in life coaching as well as creativity, spirituality and personal image. Life coaching is also an excellent choice for clarifying and improving personal relationships.

Life coaches also help their clients with workplace issues related to their personal lives such as productivity, time management, stress management and work/life balance. Career issues include initial career choices, workplace reentry, second careers and job searches as well as professional image concerns. People are also increasingly turning to life coaches for assistance with small business planning. The list of topics that life coaches can address is endless.

Even if you don’t know what it is you want to change about your life, life coaching is an excellent place to start to discover what you really want and how good your life can be.
