What is the Cost to Replace a Well Pressure Tank??

3 plumbers!
Question by Guest_93288371: Bladder Type Tank. I was quoted $900 to $1000 which would include the removal of the old failed tank (Full of Water). Is that reasonable?
Answered by LCD: You don't say how big your tank is or pressure it is rated for, but if your pump is on about same level as house (not down in a valley way below your house), and pump is about 60-100 psi rated output pressure, then a 35 gallon FloTrol tank runs about $200-250 - should cost about $125-200 to install assuming you get one similar sized to current one so no plumbing relocations needed - just a hookup with maybe a few small pieces of pipe to adjust to connection location for slightly different tank configuration.
I would get another bid or two from a well maintenance contractor or a plumber who is experienced with well system pressure control components.
If you can get one exactly the same model so it fits exactly the same which is precharged to required pressure, should be able to replace it yourself - usually have a nut-type rather than soldered connection. Just be sure to shut off isolation valves before doing it, and reopen before kicking pump up. You can read up and see video at manufacturer's websites on how to change one out, and also how to charge it with a bicycle pump and tire pressure gage.
