An average ductless A/C system with one indoor heating and cooling zone costs between $3,000 and $5,000. The price will go up if more zones are added. Earnhardt says he paid just under $4,000 for his single system and heat pump.
Burke says it’s extremely important to find a reputable company to perform this kind of work. While the wall systems require very little maintenance, installing the outdoor system requires a professional. Before hiring an HVAC contractor, make sure they are properly licensed to do the work.
Burke adds there are also health benefits from not having ductwork in the house.
“There’s a lot of stuff that grows inside them," he says. "There are some health concerns there. There’s some stuff, honestly, we’re not supposed to be breathing.”
