COMPLAINT: Robert Benn, Wesley Chapel, Fla.
"I hired Easy AC to fix a duct leak in my attic. Their master technician told me a $450 heating board would solve the problem, so I had him install it.
"The next day, I had the same issues. The company sent out a different technician, who stated I had a duct that wasn't working due to the tape coming off. Once the tape was back on the duct, the heat worked fine, which meant it hadn't been necessary for me to purchase the heating board."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like a $450 refund for a heating board I did not need. Since I purchased an air conditioner from this company with a 10-year warranty, I request that the first technician not be sent to perform any future warranty repairs."
RESPONSE: Barton Quibell, service manager, Easy AC
"The member told us he thought the control board was bad, so we sent a master mechanic to verify. The board controls the flow of gas through the valve and burner ignition, and there was none. Replacement was $450. The system seemed to be operating fine afterward.
"Our other worker went out the next day and found the unit operating properly. The problem at that time was either a disconnected or loose duct. He found loose tape and made the repair. The control board we replaced was bad, and the part we installed was needed to give him heat, so no refund will be issued.
