Wedding hall built as a Greek Revival-style home in 1928
In 1928, Dr. B.C. Powell built this Greek Revival-style home for his family in the town of Villa Rica. He also practiced medicine here for a time. The home's design includes 10 rooms and one bathroom on the lower floor, and six rooms plus two bathrooms on the upper floor. It has 13 lavish fireplaces, but also a modern coal-burning central heating system.
It was restored in 2006 by Carrollton resident Bob Nix. The current owners, Judy Scott and her daughters Sheryl Huddleston and Stephanie Crass, purchased the house in October 2007 and opened its doors for weddings and other celebrations. Special thanks to Judy Scott for contributing to this month's Ghosts.
