Washington D.C. roofing complaint
COMPLAINT: Jeff Sedgewick, Great Falls, Va.
"I hired Northern Virginia Roofing Co. to install new flashing and siding and repair my roof. They finished the flashing and siding but failed to finish the roof and honor the contract. They're billing me for work they didn't complete."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like them to replace the new shingles they installed with ones that match the existing color and replace all the damaged shingles as the contract states. I'd also like a $500 refund."
RESPONSE: John Francis, owner, Northern Virginia Roofing Co.
"We provided the customer with all the services outlined in his contract and three additional bundles of shingles at no cost. We installed the shingles under homeowner supervision and approval. Northern Virginia Roofing fully expects the member to honor his part of the contract and remit his balance in full."
Editor's note: Northern Virginia Roofing Inc. fixed the work, but the member says the case is unresolved because he didn't receive a $500 refund.
Washington D.C. contractor complaint
COMPLAINT: Ashley Klick, Alexandria, Va.
"Davinci Construction built a one-story addition with a garage on my house, installed a stone patio and pergola and replaced the front porch decking board. Overall, I'm satisfied with Davinci's exterior work. The interior work was less than satisfactory. Davinci decided to not finish the project because I wanted things done 'too nicely.' The estimated amounts to complete the work and resolve the punch list is averaging $48,000."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like them to reimburse me $35,000."
