Virginia Beach dentists brush away dental woes
Whether you live in Hampton Roads or Suffolk, you’re looking for great service, especially regarding your family’s dental care.
Here’s the latest Post of Happiness for great service from Norfolk and Virginia Beach-area dentists as selected by the Angie’s List Newsroom staff.
Finding a great, new dentist
Dr. David Graham of Chesapeake, Va. brushed away Margaret McDonald’s dental woes when she went for a routine exam and cleaning. “I had a bad experience with an oral surgeon a couple of years ago, and my last dentist closed shop, so I had put off looking for a dentist as long as possible,” she says. “Now, I need a crown replaced and had to bite the bullet and find a new doctor. Dr. Graham was wonderful putting me at ease and explaining everything in my exam.
"Because my last dentist had closed, the office staff was wonderful at calling ahead to find out exactly what would and would not be covered with my insurance plan, since I had no previous records to bring with me," she says. "I feel completely comfortable now letting Dr. Graham work on my crown.”
The staff at Beach Dental Center in Virginia Beach, Va. scraped away at Arthenia Richard’s fears. “I needed my teeth cleaned and to find out the health of my gums,” Richard says. “I never thought I would have such a nice experience with a dental office. I was really scared before I went in, but they made things so easy.
"I had not had my teeth cleaned in years and I was in dire need but scared of how painful it would be," she says. "I met the dentist, Dr. Frank Gigliotti, who was very nice and friendly and put me at ease. He looked at my overall health of my teeth and gave me recommendations. The staff gave me quotes first for anything that needed to be done so I would be well prepared. I have to say this is the best dental office I have ever been to.”
Bridging the gap
Joseph Apicella is all smiles, thanks to Midgette Family Dentistry of Chesapeake. “A bridge from another dentist had come out and needed to be replaced,” he says. “Dr. Brian Midgette went over the different options available, pros and cons of each and the financial bottom line. I found him to be extremely personable and also knowledgeable and professional.
"I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Midgette, his staff and his office," he says. "He is friendly yet professional, explains things very clearly, goes over all your options and did an excellent job. I had some issues with my former dentist and had been putting off the dental work for a while. I’m so glad I found Dr Midgette. Honestly, he is the best dentist I’ve ever had.“
A crowning achievement
Buena Henry gives Dr. Thomas O’Hara of Virginia Beach high praises. “I am in my 50s and had crown issues,” Henry says. “The dentist I had been going to said the reason the crowns fell off was that the teeth in question were ‘too far gone.’ Quite frankly, I was fed up with the whole dentistry field after spending a small fortune on my crown repairs only a year or so before.
"I decided to get a second opinion, and I’m very glad that I selected Dr. O’Hara," he says. "I have been to his office twice now and will go to no one else in the future. The other dentist was incorrect, as the teeth were fine to recap. All the staff members in his office have been employed by him for many years and were wonderful. That speaks volumes this day and age.”

At Angie’s List, we regularly hear from members who are ecstatic about outstanding service received from the companies they’ve hired. We think such great service deserves recognition, which is why we feature Posts of Happiness.
We ask our members for nominations when they rate companies with A's in every category. To qualify, a review must be at least 500 characters about a company's actual work (not just an estimate) and members need to assure us that they'd hire again.
After a nomination, our staff selects the most outstanding stories to feature. If we choose your nomination, your review will appear in our monthly magazine and even right here on our website.
