[VIDEO] How to Fix a Smelly Garbage Disposal

3 plumbers!
There are no excuses for a funky garbage disposal.
A garbage disposal is a chef's right-hand man when it comes to quick clean-ups, but if you don't de-stink it every once in awhile, your kitchen might start to smell a little bit like a dumpster. This tip only takes a few minutes, so there are no excuses for a funky disposal! Here's how to de-stink your sink:
You'll need: a lemon, baking soda, a knife, microwave and a tablespoon.
1. Pour 4 Tbsp. of Baking Soda Down Your Disposal
Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) naturally maintains pH balances. This means it will eliminate nasty odors by neutralizing both acids and bases instead of just covering them up.
2. Microvewave a Lemon
Cut your lemon in half and then microwave one half for ten seconds. This will make your lemon extra juicy!
3. Squeeze the Lemon Over the Drain
The acidic lemon juice will react with the baking soda and will begin to fizz. Let the concoction do its work for 5-7 minutes.
4. Cut the Remaining Lemon Half Into Quarters
5. Run Cold Water and Turn on Your Disposal
Turn on the cold water and the garbage disposal at the same time. Drop your quartered lemon rind into the disposal and let it run for 1 minute. Tip: It's a good idea to run water when you use the disposal and keep it running for a few seconds after you turn the disposal off.
