Vancouver auto body shop revs up look of vintage car
Member Barry Brown of Vancouver, Wash., recently hired Baham’s Auto Body & Paint to repaint his 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle. Among other things, Baham’s added a custom hood detail and embellished ghost flames.
Here’s what Brown had to say about his experience:
My car was sideswiped on the interstate and was also in need of a repaint after 15 years of driving. Their timeline can be a little fluid, so you will need to work with them and be ready to suspend your time expectations and concentrate on the beauty of the result.
I had recently installed a new intake system that resulted in some interference points on the hood. I didn’t want a cowl hood, so we designed a solution that they implemented as a piece of art. The work that they did on the inside of the hood is of better quality than most craftsmen would apply to the surface that people see.
They were able to duplicate the ghost flames that I already liked and embellish them just a little. The result was highlights that were subtle but very cool. They also removed the rocker panel trim and fixed some old rot that had been lingering for years down there. The resulting fit, finish and flawless shine are breathtaking.
