Troutman fencing company reels in happy customer

After purchasing a 35-year-old home in Matthews, N.C., Angie’s List member Randall Lee knew the existing fence would have to go. “It wasn’t suitable to keep my two collies from jumping it,” he says, adding that his desire for a quality, 6-foot privacy fence led him to highly rated Carolina Wood Fence in Troutman, N.C. “From my first contact with this company, I could tell they had a passion for building fences.”

Lee says he was willing to wait a few weeks in order to get on their schedule, but was pleasantly surprised when company owner Mike Spath squeezed his $5,300 project in earlier than expected. “The lesson worth passing on is that Mike has considerable amount of projects coming his way,” Lee says. “If you choose to be reasonably flexible with him, he will do his best to accommodate you.”

With two other fencing projects under his belt, and a reasonable expectation of what to expect, Lee says Carolina Wood Fence blew him away. “The morning of the install was impressive,” he says. “Seven people arrived — everyone knew their tasks and got right to work. Most impressive was the scrutiny of the wood that took place prior to its use. It didn’t take long before a ‘not good enough’ wood pile emerged, which was sent back to the distributing source.”

Lee says the attention the crew gave each piece of wood made him feel as if they were building it for their own backyards. “For me, the construction experience seemed more like neighbors helping me out rather than a company I had hired,” he says. “I’ve recommended this company to my friends, and you would be wise to check them out if you’re shopping for a fence.”
