Tips for a flawless flower delivery

Tips for a flawless flower delivery

Many consumer complaints about florists are related to problems such as late deliveries or wilted flowers. Follow these tips to help ensure your flower delivery goes without a hitch.

Plan ahead. Place orders for flower delivery up to a week in advance, especially around busy holidays like Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. Consider sending an arrangement the day before to avoid the holiday rush.

Keep an open mind. If your heart isn't set on red roses or another specific flower, give general suggestions - such as "bright" or "pastel" - instead of specifying types or colors, and allow your florist to choose the freshest blooms. Information about the recipient's personality and preferences may also help determine the design.

Take timing into consideration. Let your florist know if the arrangement is for a holiday or an event so they can make sure the flowers look their freshest at the right time. Describe the setting, if possible.

Deliver the details. Provide as much information for the delivery person as possible, such as the recipient's cellphone number or whether the arrangement should be left at a reception desk, for example.

Snag a snapshot. If you won't see the arrangement yourself, ask the recipient to send you a photo through text or email so you can judge the quality of the work.
