These San Antonio dentists ease the pain of patients' visits
Whether you live in Castle Hills or Shavano Park, you’re looking for great service, especially regarding your family’s dental care.
Here’s the latest Post of Happiness for great service from San Antonio dentists as selected by the Angie’s List Newsroom staff.
Filling the gap
After losing a filling and using over-the counter-putty to fill the hole that eventually fell out, too, member Jack Huston turned to Culebra North Dental Care of San Antonio to remedy the pain. “I can’t recommend them enough,” he says. “I felt very at ease with everyone I encountered, and you can tell that all the people have a good working relationship. It’s more like a family atmosphere.
"Dr. [Shelly] Sproull has to be the best dentist I’ve ever had" he says. "Her explanations and the way she seems to concentrate on every detail shows she actually has a passion for what she does. I never really had any pain afterwards or signs that I’d had dental work done.
"I was bragging at work about having a positive experience at the dentist," Huston says, "and actually had a co-worker get a price for a crown that was more than the entire procedure here. Needless to say he has an appointment next week. I’m definitely one of those people that avoid them like the plague. I’ll be going back to get a full cleaning done.”
Fellow member reviews helped Tayler Hernandez find Dr. Bernard Rust of San Antonio for X-rays and cleanings. “I was way overdue for a dental exam and cleaning and was pretty nervous about finding a new dentist,” Hernandez says. “I chose Dr. Rust based on his excellent reviews on Angie’s List as well as his coupon for dental services, which offered significant savings. I’m so glad I did!
"Dr. Rust and his staff were all wonderful, and I received terrific service," Hernandez says. "The exam, X-rays, and cleaning were all very thorough, and I was very satisfied with my visit.”
Worth the drive
Observation of other patients’ happiness convinced Theresa Heitmeier she needed to take a seat in the dentist’s chair at W Dental Group of San Antonio. “From the moment I walked into their office, I knew immediately that there was something special about W Dental Group,” she says. “I live much closer to other dentists, but the drive is absolutely worth it.
"Since I’ve been terrified of pain and quite a wimp, I thought it was going to be rough at first, but not with W Dental Group," she says. "Dr. Tom [Watkins] was very gentle, caring and even calls me at home to see how I am doing after my treatments. I love my hygienist Mary. She does a great job cleaning my teeth and coaching me on home care because, as for someone who has been terrified to go the dentist for so long, one can imagine the ‘treasure trove’ of dental work to be found in my mouth.
"The services I’ve had done over the past year include cleanings, periodontal care, crowns and professional whitening," she says. "While I have a long journey for my dental care, I’m happy to be on the journey with Dr. Tom, Amy, Mary and their wonderful staff.”
A nearly painless extraction
A longtime tooth abscess sent Robert Yadrick to Dr. Erin McLendon of San Antonio for more than just a cleaning. “I’d been told it would probably need to be extracted soon, and now it was time,” he says. “I was a fairly new patient with Dr. McLendon, having only been there once before for a routine exam. She extracted the tooth so quickly and painlessly that she had to tell me that it was all over. I thought she was still preparing for the extraction and found out it was done. Even the preparation, anesthetizing and whatnot, was very fast and totally painless. I wasn’t in the chair for 10 minutes. She is probably the most skilled general dentist I’ve ever been to, judging from my visits so far.”
About Posts of Happiness
At Angie’s List, we regularly hear from members who are ecstatic about outstanding service received from the companies they’ve hired. We think such great service deserves recognition, which is why we feature Posts of Happiness.
We ask our members for nominations when they rate companies with A's in every category. To qualify, a review must be at least 500 characters about a company's actual work (not just an estimate) and members need to assure us that they'd hire again.
After a nomination, our staff selects the most outstanding stories to feature. If we choose your nomination, your review will appear in our monthly magazine and even right here on our website.
